String quartet

We are thinking of booking a string quartet to sing during the ceremony/ walk down the aisle & drinks reception.

I really want to book them but my DP isn't convinced they are worth the money and would rather use the Sonos speakers for music..
would you go for it? They have quoted us 1k 🙈 but we've been cutting back on so much.. having the cheapest cake / flowers / no favours etc ..

Honestly, a violin duo quoted us £260 for our ceremony and we were about to book when we realised that actually their repertoire didn't really include exactly what we wanted, so we'd be paying just to compromise.

We've invested £100 in a good quality portable speaker instead, and a friend is going to do the starting / stopping of music for us.

If you are trying to have a low cost wedding then a string quartet isn't the way to go! It's 4 highly trained professionals. What about a solo violinist as a compromise?

If you're not a big music lover, I think they're fairly naff.

Money deffo best spent elsewhere.
