Hi all

My mum wants to get me a Jo Malone fragrance for my wedding.

Can anyone recommend a lovely strong scent that lasts for a long time?

I usually wear

Black Opium
La vie est belle
Lady million
Gucci premiere
Giorgio Armani Si

I'd get Tom Ford, not Jo Malone personally

PAFMO · 31/03/2022 13:36

If you want long-lasting you definitely don't want Jo Malone!

bamboo31 · 31/03/2022 13:42

Ohh thanks both!

I've never had one 🙈 so always assumed that because of the price point they'd be long lasting & strong 😳

Can you recommend any Tom Ford ones? Xx

Jo Malone do wedding scent sessions - where you can go along and try out scents. It would be a fun thing for you and your mum to do.

I disagree with the other two posters and find that Jo Malone scents last on me - if your mum really wants to treat you you could also get the body lotion to go with the fragrance to last even longer or a smaller perfume and the lotion.

Chanel Madamoiselle was my wedding day scent, had so many compliments and lasted all day on a very hot summers day! X

Tom. Ford for sure...we collect them.....smells are all so different and all amazing

You could go to a big department store and have a lovely smelling session.
Tbf, I'd say JMs are weddingy in that they are light and linear. They're not going to put anyone off their cake or make them get a headache iyswim!
I'd go and sniff some Chanel Exclusifs. Bel Respiro, Paris-Deauville are both elegant and classy.
That said, you obviously like heavier, more spicy fragrances, so maybe a TF. Black Orchid is very nice.

I find some JM really lasts well on me and others disappear in an hour. I reckon it must depend on your skin to some extent. The ones that lasts on me best is the velvet rose and oud, peony and suede blush, Poppy and barley and a combo of wild bluebell with ginger lily and amber.

I agree it would be nice to go for one of their wedding sessions. I’ve seen Mums and daughters in my local store with a glass of wine , talking about and trying various scents.

I was just going to say, unless it's got oud in which case you can have 14 showers and it'll still be there Grin I love ginger lily fragrances.

I like Jo Malone scents but for the type of scents you like, TF all day long. I'm a big TF fan. I like quite masculine scents though so my absolute favourite is ombré leather.

Channel madamoiselle. Eau de parfum

JM peony blossom was my wedding perfume and I love wearing it now, always takes me back to that (luckily!) sunny day Grin

mrstea301 · 31/03/2022 16:13

I love JM Peony and blush suede, my MIL got me a bottle of JM orange blossom as that's a traditional wedding perfume but it gave me a headache unfortunately!

Narciso by Narciso Rodriguez was my wedding perfume - loved it!! Xx

I had the Velvet Rose & Oud on yesterday and could still smell traces of it after I’d had a shower before bed . You definitely get a good bang for your buck with it.
