Hello
I have 36J breasts and am due to get married in the winter. I have no idea what sort of dress will flatter me as I am not a dress person! But I do want to wear a dress for my wedding. I am a size 16, and 5’ 4”.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for a classic white dress or something else? And what sort of budget do you have?

Sweetheart neckline, you can get modesty panels added if you don't want to show cleavage! I made a point of getting a wedding dress with straps as I wanted to be able to wear a proper bra. Wedding dresses are fitted to you and the vast majority will be boned and have corsetry - you really need to go and try a few mom, you'll be surprised at how they look!

You are not massive OP so do not say that about yourself. There will be a lot of choice for you and it depends on your figure as to what will suit you but most bridal shops have very experienced ladies who are great at advising you. Make an appointment and try a lot of different styles and - enjoy it! x

I had this exact issue. Was adamant I was wearing a bra and REALLY struggled to get dress shops to understand that this was non negotiable (28J over here!). I actually found finding a dress that covered the back of the bra harder than finding a suitable neckline and then I complicated matters by wanting a pink dress…

Ended up in a dress shop owned by 2 blokes who took my lead on the bra issue! Anyway, I had “Allen Lynette” by Sottero and Midgely and it was a DREAM! It was a huge princess dress but the modest top meant I was comfortable all day, it nipped in at the waist and then the huge skirt meant I didn’t have to worry about bloating/eating too much and was great fun to swish about on the dancefloor!

Haven’t seen loads of photos but in the ones that I have got, my favourite thing is that my boobs do not look huge. In some outfits, all you see is boob, but you really can’t tell from the photos that a. Am wearing a bra, B. That I have J cup boobs on a size 8 frame.

My advice is hold your line on bras/necklines and do not get talked into something you’re not happy with!!!

I think a dress with straps or sleeves that allows you to wear a regular bra will work best. Possibly V-neck but not too low cut.

A few times, I've seen well-endowed brides wear strapless styles, it's usually fine for the ceremony but by the end of the day when they are hitting the dance floor it seems like any "support" that the dress offered in the morning (by corsetry or ribbon strapping at the back) is wearing off and the guests are seeing more than they would like.

You WILL find something lovely to flatter your shape. Perhaps have a look on Pinterest and pin your favourite styles. Print a few to take with you to the bridal shop. And bridal dress shopping can be stressful no matter what your shape. Be open to trying on something out of your comfort zone. Having done this be firm and definite in your dealings with the sales consultant. Be definite, be assertive. "I really want to try dresses that will suit a full bra. I want to wear a bra with straps. Can you bring me dresses that will accommodate this?" Be prepared to visit more than one shop.

@user1471548941 - just gorgeous!

Big tits and got married 10 years ago.
I called ahead to any dress shop I made an appointment at to find out how many dresses with straps they have. Don't even bother with strapless, even if it stays up in the shop and you have an amazing strapless bra. After an hour your tits will be shelf like and youll be hoiking them up.

In the end mine was a v neck and v back with scalloping to soften the line. Went mega on the train.

Buy the bra before the dress and get amazing earrings as you probs won't want a necklace.

@user1471548941 that’s a really beautiful dress/look.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/02/2022 15:10

eShakti do custom made dresses - they have bridal looking dresses, and you can customise the neckline, length and sleeves, then you either order from their regular sizes, or submit your measurements and they tailor make the dress for you.

I am a large lady, and bought two dresses from them for ds1’s wedding (one for dinner the night before, one for the actual wedding). They were made in India, but arrived in under 4 weeks, and fitted perfectly. They do a fit guarantee too, so if the dress doesn’t fit, they remake it for free.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

@user1471548941 that dress is ❤️❤️❤️.

I think the melons and I will be okay, just going to have to do a lot of try ons. I think I’d give everyone a heart attack if I wore strapless but luckily I’ve never wanted that style.

Yy buy the bra before the dress, you really must. Rigby and Peller is be so worth it.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 28/02/2022 19:44

Rugby and Peller bra fitters are actual magicians, in my experience! Mine looked at my boobs from the front, measured my back with her hands, and brought me the best fitted bra I have ever had, before or since! £65 but worth every penny.

34G,14, I had a strapless Caroline Castilingo (sp?) with inbuild corset, dress buttoned over the top but it was a bardot neckline, I couldn't fall out and could wear a bra with the corset (I needed to), I just about managed the bouncy castle, but I do agree, Rigby and Peller first. They have always been determined to find the right bra for me.
