I’ve just had a disaster and it looks like my vintage (Grandmothers) engagement ring can’t be effectively repaired, I have lost one of the stones and the claws aren’t secure on the rest. It sounds dramatic but I’m devastated. We’re about an hour from Birmingham and bought our wedding rings in the jewellery quarter so DH has promised to take me next weekend, can anyone recommend a jeweller who could work with the existing stones to recreate it but making it more secure - the jeweller I visited today in my local city said they could replace the missing emerald but because they are so delicate they wouldn’t be able to put any heat on it to make the other claws secure so it would likely fall out again which is why I’m looking at having it remade rather than repaired.
