Same lottery ticket as favour

I know lots of people say not to bother but I’m having a small wedding (under 20 guests) and so it doesn’t have to be expensive.

One of the options is lottery tickets.

I was thinking of getting everyone the same numbers on their tickets. Choosing numbers significant to us/the wedding. That way (in extremely unlikely /dream scenario) we’d all share the jackpot or get the same prize.

What do people think? Perhaps mean of me, but I’d hate to buy lucky dips for everyone and to give a winning lottery ticket away 😂. Again I’m aware extremely unlikely to win anything let alone the jackpot but just thinking of different scenarios.

As it’s a small wedding I’d say that’s fine.

I’d be miffed if it was a wedding for 200 and have to share the jackpot with that many people!

Honestly, it'd be daft. If the win was £1000, you'd split the pot to make each person's prize tiny. I would be Confused if i received an identical lottery ticket as a favour.

Yes but 1 in 50 million chance isn’t so different from 16 in 50 million 😂

Scratch cards and a 2p coin, gives you something to do when you sit down and potential winners straight away. If you are going to be weird about your guests winning, choose something else.

Imagine being the person not involved in the wedding, choosing the same numbers as normal, getting excited to win the jackpot... to find it shared with 20 other people...

Could you buy it as a 1 off syndicate with 20 lines if you are wanting everyone to share?

I agree with @HelloDulling. Choose something else, you don't have the right spirit to give lottery tickets. It would be terribly bad form for the bride and groom to benefit from the favours.

Don't do this it won't go down well with anyone, it's a non gift and everyone will know why you did it. If you don't want to risk someone other than yourself actually winning choose another favour FFS

Personally not a fan.

You are basically saying, here's your wedding favour...but if it turns out good I have made sure I and everyone else get to share.

If you think someone winning money is going to cause issues, then I wouldn't bother.

Personally I'd I wouldn't want to presented with a scratch card or lottery ticket as a favour. Yes the guests could end up winning something but there is a bigger chance no one gets anything. It's a bit of a nothing gift. Spend your money on some nice chocolates or a bag of sugars almonds.

I’d find it hard to feel sorry for someone who won £1 million instead of £20 million to be honest 😂.

But maybe you’re right and I should do something else. I read this suggestion in the thread about the friend giving a winning scratch card to a friend and thought it sounded good but see it’s not shared by most. Not that I’d go for publicity if I ever won but I quite liked the thought of ‘wedding party wins lottery’.

I think it would be fine. Lottery tickets aren’t a serious favour, are they, you’re not genuinely attempting to gift someone a lottery win, it’s a bit of fun. If your numbers came up (which they won’t) then splitting any win would just be a nice little bonus they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

I think it's a sweet idea when choosing significant numbers but not sure how I feel about you choosing it because you don't want other people to win lol.

Maybe a tatts ticket and a scratchie.... with good intentions for anyone who wins.

I think it sounds fine, honestly it's your wedding so your choice - I wouldn't think twice if this was a favour and just hope that we got something out of it.

For our wedding favours we did scratchcards for a local charity, as far as I know those that won anything just donated their winnings back again.

I’d get pissed and lose the ticket/forget to check the numbers

I know you don’t want to hear this but don’t waste your money, on lottery or party favours.

I was at a wedding years ago and the bride had gone all out with the favours, sweets, poems, gifts in the same colour as the bridesmaids dress. The bride told me that she nearly had a breakdown the day before wrapping everything.
Anyway, we went for the meal and my friend sitting next to me at the table said ‘weren’t the hotel lovely to do this’
I thought to myself, what an absolutely waste of time and money!!!
Don’t do it.
