Separate wedding dress for evening?

Did you change to a separate wedding dress for your evening do? I have a lovely fancy dress for the day but it has several layers of skirt and a train, and I'm wondering about changing for the evening to something more practical (but still fancy).

You don't need to take someone with you - mine was enormous, you just go in facing forwards - as if you're riding a horse! Hitch the front bit up, you'll be fine

I do wish i'd gone to touch my make up up before the evening do, however, so I think there's definitely something to be said for a freshen up!

No. I have to say it seems a bit nuts to me, buying a gorgeous and hugely expensive dress then only wearing it for a few hours and changing out of it at the first opportunity. I’d rather find a gorgeous but less impractical dress and wear it all day and evening.

This is the other side of my thinking. As we are having extra evening guests I probably wouldn't change until 8pm anyway. By which point there's only a few hrs left. Although my dress wasn't super expensive.

I did, however, both my dresses came from Ebay, but were BNWT, I had a stunning Alfred Angelo dress with a long train for the day and changed into a very simply cut Monsoon dress for the evening. I paid less than £300 for both, and around £7O to have the evening dress fitted slightly at the shoulder and bust. It was much better, I could dance and enjoy the party.

I did. Long before the evening though. The weather was 33°C and we had walked from the church to the reception. I was boiling so I swapped it for a white micro mini dress.
