Displaying wedding bits

Daisy4569 · 06/11/2021 10:54

Does anyone have any good ideas for displaying wedding bits after the big day? I don’t want to keep everything (I am a natural hoarder!) so feel if I can make something with some bits I will happily be able to get rid of the rest - or at least this is the plan!

What sort of bits? I don't recall having anything we could display after we got married.

I think I hung my bouquet up to dry on the kitchen ceiling - its now in a shoebox somewhere or maybe I threw it away (not sure). I've since seen a service where you can get flowers from the wedding pressed and made into a framed picture - that might be nice?

Agreed, I had my bouquet pressed and made into a picture.

Need a list of bits!

I always have my bouquet on display but that is made from beads and jewels, not flowers so has stood the test of time.

From the thread title I thought this was a reference to streaking!

Our local undertakers (!) has a sign in the window saying they can turn flower bouquets in to paperweights, which I think is a lovely idea.

RampantIvy · 07/11/2021 08:54

What do you mean by wedding bits?

Daisy4569 · 07/11/2021 16:55

I did all of our wedding decorations so probably have more stuff than I should! I have all of our table decs, flowers, signs, bouquets, candles etc it was rustic so lots of jam jar style decs./wood slices etc. Probably should just throw most of it!

Love the idea of paper weights with flowers, ours were already dried so could be an option. Thanks!

I know someone who got their wedding flowers dried pressed and framed.
Another person took little trinkets from the table decorations along with the favour wrapper (personalised love hearts) and a photo of couple and framed in a deep 3D frame.
I remember when my mum got remarried she kept her wedding cake flowers (made from icing) they dried hard and was sprayed in something she still has them today in her display cabinet 21 years later!
My late Grandmother had a bunch of silk flowers which she kept from her wedding it was just a table decoration but she kept them on the dining table for years!

We have one of our table centrepieces on the windowsill. (Tall vase with four fake chrysanthemums).
For the past 11 years I've been meaning to get a print of one if wedding photos. Blush

Our cake topper is on a shelf too... it was knitted by a friend.

Daisy4569 · 07/11/2021 18:03

Sell on eBay for someone else who is having a 'do'

Or give away on freecycle.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 19/11/2021 23:07

Definitely sell the log slices etc, there is a huge market for these so don’t just throw away.
