Wedding dress in 3 months?

Hi! I got engaged last weekend and we've really quickly booked a budget wedding at a registry office followed by a pub in December. We want to keep it very small as we've already been together a decade and neither of us are very fussed about weddings, we've spent just over 2k.

I've bought a dress (not white) from a department store which I like, but a family member has offered to buy me a wedding dress. It's a very generous offer and would be nice now we have the budget for it, but the wedding is mid December. Can it be done?

I got engaged at Christmas and started shopping in January, wedding early April. We made it! but it probably limited what I could buy as it needed to be something without a long order time. Still had time to get it adjusted too.
This was pre-Covid that might mean more delays, I don't know.
Congratulations!

Yes, but you'll need to look at sample sales or off the peg options - unlikely many will be able to get you a bespoke dress in that time.

Have a look at your local places, many will have some available you can buy in store, or head to somewhere like Wed2B (I got mine there).

Happy to have something off the peg! Worried about fit though as I'm a size 20. But I definitely don't need something bespoke

If you have one, go Wed2b - they have loads of dresses in all sizes and they are ready to go.

I'm also a 20 and got my dress in Wed2B. Second one I tried on in there!

This one, in fact: www.wed2b.com/divine

I'd recommend wed2b as well OP - you buy it off the peg there and then and take it away with you. Mine was £450ish but this was a couple of years ago

I got married in 2 months and had a Wedding Dress. As others have said, you'll be more limited but I found a dress quite quickly that was a sample and absolutely loved it.

Thanks everyone I'm going to go to Wed2b!

John Lewis have 20 wedding dresses in a size 20. Why not order a few (all of them 😂) and have the people in your life who you'd like to share you trying on dresses round for an evening with fizz and nibbles and make it a lovely experience for you.

PinkFootstool · 19/09/2021 11:29

@VitalsStable the cheapest one is £195.... Ordering "a few" to try on would cost a FORTUNE, and not a chance would it be worth risking getting anything on one with drinks and nibbles at the same time, surely? Who on earth has the money to do something like that?

VitalsStable · 19/09/2021 11:35

I'll back away snd keep my suggestions to myself. Just thought it would make it a nice occasion 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tailendofsummer · 19/09/2021 12:18

I think it would too! But agree risky. Imagine coming home to find a note from yodel saying they'd put your package round the bag, and finding a sodden cardboard box of dresses behind the recycling Grin
