Evening Only Wedding

Hi! Just looking for advice/ideas.
We want to get married but can't be bothered with long photo sessions, big speeches, guests waiting around, etc. We've been together a very long time and have loads of friends, old and new. I don't want to categorise people into day and evening guests. So basically, I think the best option is to have an evening wedding - quick ceremony, dinner and dancing. Simple!
Has anyone else done this and of so, can give me some pointers? What time of year did you get married? What was the dress code? What food and drinks did you serve? Was the ceremony in a different room to the reception? What kind of bridal dress fitted the occasion? TIA.

Im going to a wedding at 5.30pm in April. Its at a nice hotel but not sure of the food.
I've also been to one that was just a meal after then drinks.Bride wore a traditional gown even though it was second marriage for both of them.Do what you will enjoy the most.

We did this, we got married at 5pm which was the last slot available, then went straight into the reception- had drinks & canapés, then a sit down dinner (although you could easily have a buffet instead) then a dj/dancing after the food.

It was great, no faffing about, loads of time to leisurely get ready in the day too Smile

We got married at 3.30, then drinks, canapés at 5, dinner at 7 - much less hanging round than getting married at midday!

Sounds fab!

think there is a law about latest time you can get wed? maybe must be done by 6pm?

sounds good to me though, i find all day stuff very boring. Tons of US weddings are 6pm onwards sort of things.

We did this. Ceremony at 5, into the gardens for drinks, canapés and photos, then evening reception with buffet from about 7. Got married in May so was warm enough to be outside for a bit before the evening bit. We did it this way to avoid having a sit down meal but you could easily still have that if you want.

Oh and I just wore a normal wedding dress.

burnoutbabe · 04/09/2021 18:07

ah that was changed 2012 so can get married anytime (assuming someone is happy to marry you at those times)
