Creased Wedding Dress

Hi All. In advance of my daughters wedding in October I’m looking at ways to decrease her dress before the big day. Just wondering if anyone has had any success with the hand held streamers at all? Has anyone used a professional company and was it worth the price. What on average did people pay?

Is the dress being altered at all? If so then the seamstress should press it and might hold onto it until the last minute. DD is getting married in early October and is getting ready at my house so I have bought a hand held steamer for any last minute problems. I have been practicing my using it for my general ironing for the last few weeks and I'm starting to prefer it to an iron.

This is the one I have bought but there are cheaper ones available.

The trick is to hang up the dress in the bathroom and turn a hot shower on. My shower was too small and my dress too big for that but wedding shops actually recommend it often…

If you have a small space, an expandable curtain rod would be good. Then perhaps a humidifier. Or iron gently on the vertical.

DM hung my dress up using the broom handle across her wardrobe shelving the day we got it and wrapped it in a sheet. But it doesn’t crease much.

Find a wooden coat hanger and wrap it in stockings or other fabric until it is well rounded. Then the shoulder will sit better.

Thanks Sorry for the delayed response Mumski. Yes dress is being altered but by a family member. We’ve actually found a bridal shop locally who will do it for £30 but I’ll get the one you’ve suggested for any last minute creasing. Good luck to your DD and fingers crossed everything goes to plan.

Thanks @naanaa we are all getting so excited now. I have all next week off for the last minute errands with some fun mixed in. Good luck to you and your DD.

I steamed all the bridesmaids dresses a few days ago and they came up perfect. DD was very impressed.
