How many canapés?!

Grateful for some advice! We're doing pre-dinner drinks from 1700-1830 for 44 people, followed by a three course dinner. How many canapés would I need? Thank you!

I’d say 4 per person but actually why have any at all if dinner follows soon ?
Drinks gatherings usually 6-7 per person.

What time does the main meal start and what time is the ceremony?

I'd likely be starving by 5-6pm, especially if I've got ready for the ceremony in the morning, been at the ceremony etc, and may not have had a decent lunch- if anything!

I agree, 4 per person. IF, there are any leftovers, ask that they are left around the bar, or packed up for you to take home.

More than you think. Don't let your guests go hungry.

We were advised 4 per person for similar timings. We opted for 7 per person and they were all snapped up. Nothing worse than being hungry at a wedding!

Thanks everyone! We'll be heading upstairs for dinner from 1830ish so by the time everyone has ordered and we have the first speech, I imagine the starters will be at 1930. You're all quite right, nobody wants to be hungry at a wedding so better to over order
