Will I regret the small wedding?! Help!!!

Please help as I’ve got my head into a right spin!

My partner and I got engaged in 2019 but decided to hold off on the wedding planning as we wanted to focus on having children and we were really lucky to get pregnant quickly.

After our daughter was born we then started planning a really small wedding for just 9 of us (our partners, siblings and their partners) this May to fit with COVID restrictions. However this still sadly had to be cancelled.

The wedding has been postponed to November this year but I’m having doubts and I’m worried I’ll regret not having the big wedding day I always thought I’d have! Part of me loves the idea of an intimate ceremony with just family especially as I can’t face shelling out 20k plus on a big do now we have our LO. I think it could be really special but I’m also worried I’ll regret not doing something bigger or that with such a small number of people it might just get awkward?!

Our families have met and I’m sure they’ll get along on the day but my SIL and her partner are particularly awkward and I’m so worried how they’ll fit into the day.

We eloped, no regrets on the tiny wedding but I do regret returning The Dream Dress bc I felt like it was "too much" for an elopement. Oh, bitter, bitter regret.

So have the wedding that suits you/covid regs etc but make sure the dress is everything you want it to be too.

If your hesitation is purely worrying you'll regret having a bigger bash rather than actual cold feet I say definitely save the 20K and stick with the small wedding. Big lavish weddings are great, if you have a big lavish income, but if you're on a more moderate salary I think you'd be bonkers to spend so much on one day. You can do a lot with 20K.

Smaller wedding last year! Supermarket cake, handmade flowers, no photographer… a proper Covid wedding! Not what we imagined but it was perfect in a strange way. We’re having a party this year but only because it was already paid for, or honestly I don’t think we’d have bothered!

We just got married in street clothes and took our witnesses out for tapas afterwards — I think there’s only one photo! And it was lovely and low-key and insanely romantic. Absolutely no regrets, either.
