Dress Dilemma.

Hi Ladies. So after a long time looking I've finally had a dress catch my eye, and on the 3rd or 4th time of going back to look at it its suddenly occurred to me why I like it.

The picture on the left below is the one I like. The picture on the right below is the dress I wore at my first wedding BlushConfused

They're too similar aren't they? Hmm Damn my apparently very narrow field of taste / style.

They are very similar yes, I’m not sure how important that is to you.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 28/07/2021 20:14

Both very elegant. Yes similar.

ImInStealthMode · 28/07/2021 20:14

Well, now it's occurred to me quite how similar they are it's taken the shine off the new one a bit.

There's only about 8 or 9 guests from the 1st that will be at the 2nd and the original photos are long gone, but still... Blush

I've deliberately being trying to stay away from the same style too. Back to the drawing board I suppose.

Similar, but different fabric, neckline and train. Go for what you want. Presumably you're never going to have both wedding photos up next to each other for people to compare.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 28/07/2021 20:17

They are very similar but we like what we like. As long as the flowers are different and maybe hair up/down opposite what it was last time.

ImInStealthMode · 28/07/2021 20:19

Everything else will be completely different.

Season, venue, flowers, colours, hair, Groom obvs. All very different / better Wink

So the dress arrived (I ordered a couple of different ones to try on) and I love it but it is at first glance really similar in style to my first one.

Currently considering ways to alter it a bit, maybe having the train reduced to a puddle train or having a split put in the front.

Wish I could just have slightly broader taste Confused

@ImInStealthMode Hi, saw this on the Monsoon site & remembered this thread. Just an idea.

Thank you Coffeebeans, I'll have a proper look at that one today Smile

I’d only consider if it bothers you personally, I don’t in all honesty think that any of the guests will remember exactly what dress you wore before.

ImInStealthMode · 06/08/2021 07:46

Thanks @LawnFever. I think what's bothering me is my Mum and a close friend pushing the 'ooh I do think you should have something different though' message at me and suggesting other dresses constantly.

I told DP my dilemma (without pictures) and his response was 'well I never saw your first one so I don't care, get whichever one you want' which is helping a bit!

The first was very thick satin and boned (winter wedding) whereas this one is much lighter so they feel very different to wear, the little jacket just makes them look alike.

Your DPs response is perfect!

It’s not about what your mum or friend think, certain styles just suit different people, sounds like this shape of dress is just your thing, so that’s what’s important Smile

TeaChocKitKat · 14/08/2021 20:52

Where was your first dress from OP? Its absolutley beautiful!

ImInStealthMode · 14/08/2021 23:57

@TeaChocKitKat It was from David's Bridal, I bought it in Florida. Thank you!
