Wedding weekend at end of July

We're supposed to be hosting 23 people for a weekend 30th July - 3rd August 2021 for our wedding.

Its a four day event and everyone is staying at the barn but I'm not sure if the rule of 15 applies to staying over as well as the ceremony/reception. I know at the moment there are no weddings allowed, and that we're probably in lockdown for the foreseeable but we had to postpone in 2020 and I can't bear the thought of having to postpone again.

I'm having a bad day, im in a bad mood with lockdown and I'm fed up of not being able to go out or travel anywhere.

I don't need a reponse, just needed a rant. I just want my family all together for the weekend and I want to get married!!!!

Hello - I know you said you didn't need a response but I'm in a very similar situation to you!

We postponed in 2020 to 2021 and have reduced numbers to just 10. We have also booked a 4 night weekend in July!

I'm trying my best to be positive about it - the vaccines are being rolled out in full force and by July I expect most people will have had at least their 1st dose if not 2nd too!

How are you planning on spending your weekend? :)

Thanks for replying Siw2020. It's a bit sucky but you are right, I am hoping that most people will have had a least one dose by then. Even if we have to cut down slightly, as long as our immediate families are there we'll be happy.

We're getting the legal bit done at the registry office on the Tuesday and then the weekend is currently planned as follows;

Friday - arrival and settle in at around 2pm. Afternoon tea at 4pm and then antipasti buffet around 8pm (still tbc as worried people won't be hungry)
Saturday - humanist wedding ceremony at 2.30pm, followed by champagne and canapés and then sit down dinner at 4pm. Cheese board for evening food. Evening on patio hopefully if weather is nice with playlist on speakers.
Sunday - having a BBQ caterer and drinks in the afternoon.
Monday - recovery day!

There are lots of grounds to walk in, and a swimming pool and hot tub to chill in. We've got loads of garden games to set up and have loads of boardgames to keep everyone entertained. Then we're having a family quiz on the Sunday afternoon.

I think it will just be so nice to get together and see our parents and siblings and their kids. We were contemplating if we needed any more entertainment than games and music but we don't think so as we just talk non stop when we get together.

We've both been married before and this time its just the people we want, and we're spending the money we would have spent on a big wedding making sure people have a great weekend and that the food and drink is amazing.

I am frightened to get too excited about it but I can't wait!

Sounds lovely! Also sounds very similar to what we are doing!!

We've so far planned:
Fri: arrive in the evening, dinner (bringing with us), drinks, relax
Sat: legal registry wedding, bbq in the afternoon
Sun: afternoon tea
Mon: fine dining meal out to conclude the celebrations

It's in a scenic setting so plenty of opportunities for nice walks in the day, picnic, swimming etc
At the venue itself they've got a hot tub and table tennis.

We're thinking of ideas for evening activities/games - what are you guys planning?

July is a fair while away - I think we're allowed to get excited! Especially as weddings we're allowed last July, surely it can only be better (relatively) this year. They can't put a hold on weddings for so long...
