I'm at a bit of a loss really for what music to use in a civil ceremony... anyone have any great suggestions?

Do you have a favourite film with a good soundtrack?

KihoBebiluPute · 07/01/2021 21:18

I was at one wedding where they walked up the aisle to the Monty Python theme tune which was wonderful

Star Trek theme tune or the like if you are fans of anything special

I was Born to Love You by Freddie Mercury (sheet music available for arrangements for various different instruments)

Splodgetastic · 07/01/2021 21:24

Anything with trumpets is good, in my view.

ThisBear · 07/01/2021 21:25

Are you looking for something pop/modern music, or more of a timeless wedding music kind of feel? Instrumental film soundtracks and classical music compilations might help you figure out what clicks.

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 07/01/2021 21:28

We walked in to the instrumental of bittersweet symphony and out to Justin Timberlake can't stop the feeling.

It is hard to find non religious music for weddings.

TwigTheWonderKid · 07/01/2021 21:28

If you want something classical-but-not then some of Michael Nyman's soundtracks might be good.

Trumplosttheelection · 07/01/2021 21:30

Soundtrack for pride and prejudice or sense and sensibility is good

FusionChefGeoff · 07/01/2021 21:31

Opera / classical - walk in
Elbow: one day like this - register
The Wannadies: You and Me Song - walk out

That's what we had

BiscuitTea · 07/01/2021 21:32

We had the dreamboats and petticoats album at our wedding

Twigletgirl27 · 07/01/2021 21:33

Walked in to George Michael's version of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and back to Mama Cass Getting Better Every Day.

FrankiesKnuckle · 07/01/2021 21:37

Walked in to the the ambient version of cafe Del Mar - energy 52

Walked out to movin' on up by primal scream.

Check out vitamin string quartet.

I went to a wedding where the bride walked in to the love theme from Love Actually, which was really nice. Another bride had some medieval music.

Film music is always good. The theme from Braveheart always makes me feel a bit emotional!

Elouera · 08/01/2021 12:54

From memory, we had:

walking in - Canon in D (Pashelbels canon)
Signing register- a modern song with just the instrumental version (cant recall which one now)
Walking out- I do, I do, I do by Abba

JorisBonson · 08/01/2021 12:55

Anything that doesn't mention God!

We had -

Entrance - Bill Withers - Lovely Day
Signing register - Blur - You're So Great & Des'ree - Kissing You
Exit - Wham - I'm Your Man

My friend entered to the Jurassic park theme. Everyone sobbed!
Pootles34 · 08/01/2021 12:57

Beware the overly emotional music! I was fine outside waiting to walk down the aisle until I hear our music - depends if you're the weepy sort.

Fly me to the moon – Frank Sinatra
Diamonds – Rihanna
Because you loved me – Céline Dion
Marry you - Bruno Mars
I got a feeling – Black Eyed Peas
I’m yours – Jason Mraz
Happy – Pharrell Williams
Wake me up - Avicii
All of me – John Legend
Lucky – Jason Mraz
Perfect – Ed Sheeran
I found you – The Wanted
Dancing Queen - ABBA
I want to know what love is – Foreigner
Waiting for a girl like you - Foreigner

We had all of these at some point during our wedding and reception
