Today was supposed to be my wedding day

Obviously it's been postponed and there is no way we would have felt comfortable going ahead in a tier 3 area. However the weather is sunny and lovely and I'm feeling down!

I know there is so much going on at the moment and a wedding is ridiculous however hoping someone can come along and cheer me up!

If only it was raining

You are allowed to feel upset, of course you are! It's not ridiculous at all. My brother postponed his August wedding indefinitely- it's a horrible situation to be in. Just because other people are going through worse at the moment doesn't make this any less the case.

I hope you get your special day soonSmile

SpudulikaSlob · 02/01/2021 12:03

Will you plan for January 2022 or for as soon as possible?
I'm sorry you had to cancel, the universe obviously approved so do something nice for yourself today and imagine how great it will be when the wedding does eventually happen.

queenofthelamas · 02/01/2021 12:05

We've rescheduled for the end of September so fingers crossed it will be more normal by this point!

Sorry op, of you can be upset.
It's a big event in your life & meant to be special I can totally see why you are upset.
Hopefully your September wedding goes ahead as planned & you get your special day then!

Oh I’m sorry, a few of my friends have had to postpone their weddings due to this whole thing too. Although one couple had enough and just got married in the register office with 2 witnesses and kept their rescheduled ‘big day’ for the end of this year which will be lovely.
Fingers crossed you’ll get your wedding day in September. Just imagine if by then this whole situation is better how much more exciting and fun your big day will be Smile

Cam2020 · 02/01/2021 13:29

This has happened to my friend this year (along with so many others). She and her fiance got dressed up, quaffed champagne and took and shared photos of their non wedding day with those of us that should have been there.

I appreciate that might be more upsetting to some, but it might be nice to mark the day?

Hope your wedding next year is spectacular - your firends and family will most definitely be up for it, it'll be an epic day Flowers

I've just seen this and wanted to send you Thanks

We were due to get married in June, rescheduled to January 21 but that has now been cancelled too, so I understand how shit yesterday was for you (plus how guilty you probably felt for feeling sad as 'it's just a wedding')

I hope you managed to mark your 'would have been' date somehow?

queenofthelamas · 03/01/2021 18:29

@gurglebelly thank you. I feel for you too it must be awful having to reschedule twice.
We had a quiet day and had a chocolate dipping selection in the evening! Not too exciting but was nice!

Sorry to hear that op. I'm sure you'll have a lovely day in September instead. Thanks

I was due to marry 9th May last year, and I remember the previous year the weather was horrendous freezing rain so I was nervous it would be the same. Of course it was postponed and what would have been our wedding day was absolutely glorious sunshine. One of the best May's on record apparently. It's sickening isn't it. We had a nice day of a zoom call, I wore a wedding style dress and we had a commitment ceremony on zoom with our friends and family. It was the best we could do. Thinking of you - I know how it feels Daffodil

I was due to get married June 2020 now June 2021 but that’ll be off the table soon were just delaying the inevitable atm. It’s utterly depressing, and we’ve decided that if we cancel this one it’s cancelled for good and we will get legally married and put the money into the house. It’s making me so sad because, as much as I’m not centre of attention person I just wanted this one day to actually spoil myself and put the nice dress on and feel pretty and special. We worked so hard saving and planning and hand making everything and it’s all tainted now. I’m sorry this is happening op it really sucks.
