Hi all,

Has anyone got any ideas or suggestions of where I might be able to find blue wedding dresses? Or if anyone has had a wedding dress that is slightly out of the ordinary - where did you find it?

Thanks

it might be worth searching for 'blue prom dresses' and then whatever style you would like (eg: blue prom dress a line), rather than 'blue wedding dress'. best of luck in your search!

Try etsy

Look at prom dresses or Bridemaids dresses? There are some stunning Bridemaid dresses out there in loads of colours.

StuntCroissant · 15/12/2020 19:54

What kind of style do you like OP? Needle & Thread do blush and pale blue dresses but they're definitely not "prom" style if that's what you're after. Also try Claire La Faye pin.it/1zvG2tT

I wore a (pink) bridesmaids dress (from Dessy) and a long lace jacket, which was designed to go over a traditional white dress.

Google The Princess Room Cobh Co Cork Ireland. They have a facebook page. Might give you ideas

I had mine made. If it's a solid blue you want I think regular wedding dress shops might be able to dye it for you.

Timeforatincture · 15/12/2020 20:01

I was married in pale green silk satin. Bought a pattern and a bolt of material and had a local dressmaker make it for me.

I had tried on a traditional wedding dress in a boutique and laughed myself silly at the sight in the mirror. I looked like such a plonker!

So that would be my advice. I was so pleased with my dress.

It's our 30th anniversary this month.

FairyGothMother does dresses in different colours. They do lots of styles, not just corsets and tulle skirts.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone - really helpful.

The prom/a line style isn’t really my style (I am 5ft 10 and a size 14, I fear I would look like a galleon in full sail!) - I love that long 1920s/30s style. It would be for a winter wedding if that’s a help - the major sticking point is the colour!

is this one too 'flowy'? It looks a little like a few of the pictures that come up when 1920s dress is searched x

My DF got married in a stunning peacock blue prom dress a few years ago. Agree with looking at Prom Dresses/Ball Gowns Smile

TommyShelby · 16/12/2020 16:47

@sleepismysuperpower1 that colour is spot on - the dress is maybe a touch plain though.

I love the dresses by Eliza Jayne Howells? Do you think they’d be able to dye one?

if you like the style and colour, it might be worth contacting a tailor/wedding dress shop or similar and ask if they could add embellishments/detail to the dress.

redkiteflying · 16/12/2020 17:08

Ghost have lots of silk flowy bridesmaid dresses in different colours that could certainly be used as wedding dresses (good friend wore one of their bridesmaid dresses as a wedding dress and it looked amazing)

PragmaticWench · 16/12/2020 17:11

I wore dark blue to get married, it felt really special! Had mine made but only because I wanted a particular design.

Try fairy gothmother. Really different stuff and customer service was absolutely excellent

BikeRunSki · 16/12/2020 17:44

I got married in a silvery-lilac evening dress. It was a very wedding dress style. - would have been perfectly wedding dressy (for someone else) in white.

TommyShelby · 16/12/2020 17:52

There’s some fantastic suggestions here everyone thank you!

I didn’t even know where to start but now I’ve definitely got something to work with. You’re all fantastic Xmas Smile

Have you also looked at Coast & Monsoon?

Just looked at www.elizajanehowell.com/
& the dresses are gorgeous. It's definitely worth asking if they can dye or get a dress you like in a different colour.
