Might have to cancel a third time...

We originally postponed then cancelled our wedding this year due to covid.

Were due to elope on the 29th - no guests, witnesses provided by the venue.

Now this is looking unlikely too. We've paid for everything including a night in a nice hotel as a very small honeymoon.

Maybe it's just not meant to be? 😟

Its just so stressful isn’t it? I’m supposed to get married on 7 October and just keep stressing about it all the time.

Don’t think its not meant to be though. This blasted pandemic has delayed so many peoples weddings

JorisBonson · 19/09/2020 22:27

Keeping everything crossed for you @NYChopeful. Isnt the uncertainty just the worst?

Why is it looking unlikely Op? Weddings and receptions with 30 people are still allowed under the current rules and if you’re eloping with no guests I don’t see why it would have to be cancelled?

mynameisigglepiggle · 19/09/2020 22:28

Why can't you still elope if no guests?

JorisBonson · 19/09/2020 23:12

@Bluemooninmyeyes1 we're in London and eloping to Cornwall. I'm scared there's going to be a "stay where you are" lockdown.

This whole thing has driven me mad, I'm usually a horizontally laid back person. This year has brought out the neurotic in me!

Fingers are crossed for both of us OP. We should know by this time tomorrow 🤞

Hotelhelp · 21/09/2020 16:23

Fingers crossed for you OP. Will be waiting for the news from NS to see if our October wedding can still go ahead.

whitershadeofpale · 21/09/2020 16:24

Same has happened to us. We were due to have a 50 guest wedding at the end of October. We didn’t feel right uninviting 20 people so cancelled wedding one. We didn’t want to wait so arranged a small wedding with just immediate family in a country that is very special to us and with low rates of corona. It’s just been announced that it’s added to the quarantine list, so unless it’s lifted in the next few weeks the wedding won’t happen.

JorisBonson · 22/09/2020 09:37

Keeping everything crossed for everyone. What a fucker this year is. I just want to get bloody married 😂

Great news I think OP. Looks like you’ll be fine for 29th. I’m still a bit nervous they lock down more before mine on 7th Oct but I’m less down about it all than I was yesterday. We will get there 😊💍🍾

JorisBonson · 22/09/2020 13:26

Oh I hope so @NYChopeful! Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

I'm allowing myself to get excited now.

Good luck everyone! We decided last week to cancel our (rearranged) wedding - we'll sneak off and get married and then do the wedding in a couple of years.

JorisBonson · 22/09/2020 17:04

That's exactly what we're doing @gurglebelly. Just the two of us in Cornwall for a couple of days then a vow renewal and a big party next year (maybe).

gurglebelly · 26/09/2020 09:13

We've just heard from our venue, Boris cutting down to 15 has made the venue much more supportive - they've given us the option of going ahead with a small private ceremony on our current date AND allowing us to move the reception to our first anniversary. It's such a relief!!

NYChopeful · 26/09/2020 09:30

That’s great news @gurglebelly. Congratulations. It sounds like the perfect solution

JorisBonson · 04/10/2020 21:12

We did it. It was perfect.

For anyone considering eloping, DO IT. I really can't recommend it enough. It was so romantic and stress free. We felt like the only people in the world.
