final fitting almost 4 months before wedding?

The dress arrived a few weeks ago in the shop and They wanted to do a fitting , I questioned on the phone that it was too soon and they said they'd just do the hem and final fitting later on. when I came in dress was almost too tight given the fact I was nervous and hadn't eaten that day yet (I definately have not gained weight since they measured me but I just let that go I can do a bit more exercise/eat healthier for the next few months anyway) .... now they have informed me it's ready and for me come try it on for a final time and to take it away.... I'm speechless and about to cry. This dress was very expensive and I feel like I'm being mugged off!

Not to mention it had a very high Illusion neckline that i'm sure in previous appointments they said would be cut to for near to the day.... help and advice please is this normal wedding dress shop practice?

No it's not normal. Final fittings are normally a few weeks before the wedding.

Oh that's odd. Unless they're meaning for you to pick the dress up, and then bring it back for alterations? I do know some stores local to me that do that.

It’s a bit strange, but I would definitely collect your dress, you can always get it altered nearer the time if required. There were a lot of people struggling to collect dresses last year when a bridal chain went bust....

I would put something in writing to them stating that you are happy to come and collect the dress, but that you would like your final fitting 1 month before the wedding (whenever that ends up being). This certainly seems a little odd.
