Best registry offices in UK

Looking for recommendations for the best registry offices! We are planning to elope. Just us so want somewhere that works well with very small wedding and that has great photo opportunities! Nice town/village with good restaurants for after and bonus points for a great view! Only registry offices. We don't want to get married at a hotel due to the added cost. Thanks all

I got married at leatherhead. Parts of the building date back to Henry vii.

Definitely not country but Islington Town Hall is lovely!

I got married at Southampton Register Office with a handful of people. They have a lovely stained glass window in the main room. It sits 55 but we only had parents and siblings there so less than a dozen.

For photos we went to the town wall - it’s a very short walk. The photos are stunning. Lots of lovely stone arches.

The Community Room at Cressing Temple Barns. Venue hire and registrars from about £200.

Not village but... Chelsea Old Town Hall is stunning and is iconic for pictures of bride & groom on the steps outside. Also on kings rd in Chelsea so huge choice of lovely restaurants/Pubs after (in normal circumstances obvs)

Guildhall in Windsor. Prince Charles and Elton John got married there. Obviously not to each other!

York . Got married there and it was lovely with lots of great places around for drinks and reception. But avoid race days ( in normal times)

Cardiff - the registry office is in City Hall which is gorgeous in its own right, then you can cross the road to Bute Park for more photos against the castle backdrop, then your choice of restaurants

Bakewell registry office is a lovely old stone building, in a lovely market town in the Peak District. Nice river for photos. Worked well for us

I got married at Chelsea Register Office. Lovely old building and a book of all the famous people who got married there. DH Lawrence to Patsy Kensit. We went to Bluebird afterwards.

It depends where you live, but Lichfield is popular for weddings. Beautiful old building on the edge of Beacon Park and directly opposite the memorial gardens, Minster Pool & Lichfield Cathedral. Excellent setting for photos.

Plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

Marylebone registry office - it's in the town hall and is gorgeous.

Malvern is in a beautiful setting too, and there are some lovely restaurants there. For photos, you could jump in the car and do the short drive up to the hills and get some really spectacular photos

Harrogate registry office in North Yorkshire is a beaut. Plus loads of lovely shops and cafes etc!

Weybridge has a nice garden for photos

We got married at Guildford Registry Office. Pretty building and gardens as I remember.

We looked at Crear, lovely place but dates didn't work for us

We eloped to Edinburgh (and had a Mumsnet witness!), it's a lovely building with a big marble hallway for pictures if it's raining (it was).
