Have you postponed your wedding? If yes, when to?

Hi everyone. Thought I would start a thread to see if you have had to move your wedding due to Covid.

I was due to get married 26 June. The church told us they advise us to postpone as we were the only couple who hadn’t moved to next year. Both my hen do and other half’s stag do’s were planned abroad but are now cancelled. Was going to rearrange for August but can’t see the point as that means no stag, no hen, and we don’t know when the wedding ban will be lifted.

Anyone have any feeling towards the wedding ban? We aren’t booking anything till it’s lifted.

Trying to rearrange daughters wedding currently planned for Late May 2020. Venue only offering a limited range of Autumn/Winter replacements up to Mid March 2021. If we want to go later they expect us to pay again (and keep current payments). Not happy. I understand businesses don’t want to loose a whole season’s worth of bookings. How are other venues playing it?

All of my suppliers at venues (church, breakfast restaurant and evening hall) have transferred our date and money already paid. If the venue is shut when the wedding is due to take place and they paid on a credit card, they can consider a chargeback if the venue are being idiots about it. Perhaps mention that to the venue. They might be a little more forthcoming.

DHLawrence My niece has just postponed her July 2020 wedding until June 2021, same venue, church, florist, photographer and DJ and there has been no additional charge. She thinks she'll have to pay a bit more for the registrar but that's all.

We postponed ours a while ago to 31/10/2020 from 2/5/2020. But tbh the news made it sound like Nicola Sturgeon was saying today that social distancing may be in place for the rest of the year. I don't really see how we can have our big church wedding and ceilidh if noone can come close to each other. Also one of my bridesmaids is supposed to be coming from Australia and realistically I don't know if she'll be able to. I'm kind of wishing now I had put it to 2021. However I don't want a midweek wedding. I want a Saturday and it annoys me so much as originally our wedding was the bank holiday. Just everything is rubbish.

We're wedding twins, exact same dates Lyricallie. I thought when we moved everything about 6 weeks ago there would be 50/50 chance it would go ahead. Now looks like about 20% chance it will. We had our hens/stags in late feb due to timings we could get people together so we've done half the celebration. Was really hoping to finish it off this year!

indiemay ha how weird!

We're the exact same I had a Highland Hen and a Glasgow hen. Bf had is his stag all on Feb/March before it kicked off and now we're a bit deflated. I'm now thinking it's going to be years away because I don't want a midweek wedding at our venue is quite popular. I think however were going to have to just hold out as I don't think everything will swap over as easily as it did before. So we will need the gov to decide things so our insurance kicks in.
