Just wondering if anyone has successfully been able to claim on their wedding insurance yet? Thanks

Not for Coronavirus (yet - although I worry that's coming), but our original venue went bust in September and we claimed through our insurance with John Lewis and they were amazing. Covered an additional £15k to rearrange the wedding, so essentially doubled our budget and it was relatively hassle free. Now just waiting to find out I have to go through it all again because of Corona

Which did an article which said all the insurances available in the U.K. excluded government acts, but Debenhams and John Lewis appeared to be covering cancellations due to the current situation anyway, which is lovely of them. Sadly my insurance hasn’t followed suit, so we can’t claim.

We’ve postponed the reception and we’re blindly hoping we can still get the legal bit done, but we’d have to give notice again in April (as our venue is closed) so it’s not looking likely.

I spoke to my insurance today and they said they might be able to help with the postponement costs as we're rescheduling our end of May wedding to next summer and the venue are charging an extra 50% of the hire fee for going into the next financial year (we didn't want to reschedule before March 2021, which would have been free). The guy on the phone sent me a claims form but he did say the backlog of claims is huge and he's not sure it will be approved as we started the postponement discussions with the venue prior to the government announcing the ban. He did say it's been tricky for a lot of people to claim Sad
