How much did you pay for your veil?

Just curious as to how much people paid for their veil and where they got it from?
I went for my dress fitting tonight and was quoted £140 for one which I thought was ridiculous! I have been looking online and they are a lot cheaper but it is always a risk buying online.

A pittance.
I went to the market, bought some net, sewed on some small pearl look beading (to both 'finish' the edge and to give it a little weight, and sewed it on to a hair comb.

I know it sounds a bit like a Take a Break Tip but it really was lovely. I am genuinely not a creative or crafty person, but it was so simple and looked just like any other veil.

I borrowed mine from a friend for my 'something borrowed'!

I think I found one in a small bridal shop for £40 in the end. I too was horrified by the £££s quoted by other places.

I was also too scared to buy online. So many places are non refundable

mine was £450. Really. I was aware I was being ripped off even as I signed the paperwork. It was cathedral length with swarovski crystals hand glued on to it. it was beautiful and I could afford it (pre-children!!)

My sister in law borrowed it for her wedding and she looked lovely. I'm so glad it got a second outing!!!

I brought mine online for about £20 after trying on a £150 one at my fitting. When it arrived it looked a bit creased so I hung it up in the bathroom for 15 minutes with the shower on and the steam left it lovely a smooth.

I spent £3! It came from China via eBay. It had 3 layers of netting with a satin edge on each, and pearls. It was beautiful. People thought it was far more expensive.

£180 8 years ago. It was beautiful lace cathedral and favourite thing I wore on my wedding day.

I made mine for a few pounds - length of pretty veil stuff from a cheap local fabric shop, some fishing line and a sparkly hair clip from Boots. Sewed one end into the clip with the fishing line and left the other edge raw. Looked gorgeous, floaty and airy and exactly what I wanted.

Mine was handmade by the dressmaker who made my dress...probably cost £30.
I did see ones for £250 that I liked, didn't have any lace/bearings etc, but I kept my head and stuck with the £30 one!

I didn't have one. I find the whole idea behind it odd

Mine was £250 but was in a vintage style and custom made for me. I still get it out and look at it, it was worth every penny!
Agree the ones that are just plain netting though are ridiculous. Have you tried wed2be?

I didn’t have one either, I thought they looked like a net curtain on my head.

Pretty sure it was less than £20 18 years ago.

I didn't wear one, just wouldn't be my Style. We got married in a shoestring and quite untraditional so it just depends on you.

£5 on eBay, loved it!

(Also got my dress on eBay for £20!)

Mine was £325, which I knew then and now that it was a shocking amount of money to spend. But I had saved to be able to afford to buy the veil. For me, it was worth it.

Is not having one an option?
I didn't have one.

First wedding: Hired with my dress in 1981, the whole package cost less than £60.
Second wedding in 2012: no veil, wore a beautiful dark blue fascinator with my beautiful dark blue dress, whole package less than £100

I think £15 from facebay. Was beautiful too

£10 via a website called wish, ( you can download the app) it was a kid length under the hair veil with fake Pearl details ... it did feel a little cheaper but didn’t look it ... for £10 it was worth the risk

Not wearing one isn't an option for me really as my dress is sleeveless and therefore I think a veil sets it off lovely I'm just being tight and don't want to send an arm and a leg for one! Also wanted to check I'm not being ripped off. My dress cost £1400 and as if that's not enough they are charging £170 on top of that for very small alterations. But as I am new to this wedding malarky I get overwhelmed and agree to pay! Silly really! I also don't know what's a good price and what isn't. It seems you mention the word wedding and people see £££££ signs! And before anyone says it I know I have totally fallen for it all hook line and sinker!

I ordered my veil from Wedding Veils Direct. No issues and it was just as lovely as the ones I tried on in the shop no where near as expensive! They went me samples of the veil colours too so I knew what to expect.

Mine was fingertip length with satin edge, I found it from a lady on Facebook who designs them to order. About £50.

I bought mine from Ebay for about £20 - I actually ordered 2 because they were so cheap, a cathedral length and a fingertip length (which I wore). DSis used the cathedral length one a few years later when she got married, and she had my dress remodelled too!

My mum made mine. It would have cost an absolute bomb as it was edged with handmade silk lace which she made, and stitched to silk tulle, but making it physically was incredibly easy. You could make one for a tenner no problem
