Wedding in August - Maquee

Hello!

My fiancé are getting married next August 22nd. We are having the wedding in the local church and then the reception in my future father-in-laws garden (he lives next door to the church). What I'm wondering is - do we really need a marquee or stretch tent? His garden is big enough but with a pond and tree in awkward positions it makes it so difficult to get a marquee to fit! Has anyone had a wedding or been to a wedding that hasn't had a marquee and everything been fine? Or does anyone know of any alternatives? I just hope I'm not being naïve in hoping for good weather!

If you don't have a marquee, where are you planning to eat/dance etc? If outside, the that's a huge risk, even in August!

Unless you are only inviting 8 people, or your in-laws to be have a massive stately home, then yes, you will need a marquee (presuming you are in the UK)
If you are somewhere in the World with more predictable weather, then the "need" becomes less.

Have you spoken to any marquee companies? They may be able to figure out a way to work round the pond/tree

Unless your FIL home is large enough to accommodate the whole wedding party in the event of inclement weather you need a plan!

What about a teepee tent? If you are in the uk you need some shelter.

Yes I’d say you would need a marquee, unless FIL has a very large stately home he doesn’t mind turning into a disco.
Contact companies, they will be able to work with the garden

You definitely need something. We’ve been to weddings with ponds, trees, flower beds, stone statues etc inside the marquees and they all looked fab
