Wedding dress shopping

Sort of.

Still 2 years away so I'm not at the point of buying but my best friend strongly feels I need to start getting an idea of what I want and how much that is going to cost.

So we are going dress shopping next week.

Couple of questions:

  1. Do I tell them I am definitely not at the point of buying yet?

Several reasons really, it's still ages away, I intend to lose some weight first etc.

  1. What do I wear underwear wise... I have read a nude strapless bra but I don't have one, do I really need to buy one just for this?
  1. Any other tips?

I'm not really looking forward to it, I hate trying on clothes anyway, I'm worried I won't find anything I like, I'm fat.... Etc

I wouldn't bother telling them you are not buying yet. Maybe just say you are looking in other shops, so they don't ramp up the pressure.

I would wear any nude bra and take any colour strapless if you have one. I definitely wouldn't bother buying a bra specifically.

Try on anything and everything. Don't get to caught up in picking dresses you love at first. It will be really good to try several different shapes and fabrics to get an idea of what looks good. You might be surprised.

The best part of starting now is that it takes the pressure off, so don't worry if you don't fall in love with one on your first shop. Have fun!

Stand your ground. Even a year is a long way away. Fashions and tastes change. If you bought a dress now you might change your mind, it might not suit you if you lost weight etc. Its your wedding, you dictate when you want to do things.
If you feel you have to then just try to treat it as a fun day out and not too seriously. But don't let your best friend start picking your colours ...

Don't go yet. It's too soon. Styles change. You change. You might lose or gain a lot of weight....or even a baby in that time.

Your dress will cost what you can afford to spend at the time.

Are you prepared for them to ask your wedding date and then for the inevitable raised eyebrows? Or to lie and bring it forward a year or more?
Far too early imo - and you don't even want to go. Surely you have better things to do at this time of year! Tell her no.
