I feel as if I don’t deserve my wedding

Does anyone else feel this way?

I see pictures or hear of other people getting married and I think oh that’s lovely but I’m embarrassed and almost ashamed that all this money is being spent on me (any my partner obviously) for one day when i don’t feel like I’m the type of person that deserves that or warrants it.

Errrm, I think you just need to decide if what you're planning and paying for is what you both want, not being done to please others.

My wedding day was me, dh, parents, my DB, his DS, our DS at the registry office, followed by afternoon tea at a lovely hotel.

If it's what you want it to be, you deserve it, so you shouldn't feel any embarrassment about it iyswim?

I know the feeling. We had a big and expensive wedding, paid for largely by my parents.

I'd started off wanted a much smaller do but things spiralled....

I wasn't too keen on spending all that money, but my parents really, really wanted to make it special. It's not just for you, it's for the whole family!

I got over my embarrassment at the size of the thing and had a lovely day,l. And my parents are still thrilled that they were able to make it happen.

Oh no try not to feel like that! I know what you mean though it seems a lot of fuss and money to be spent essentially on you (okay, both of you, but we all know it's mainly about the bride) but honestly ENJOY it.

I felt the same before my wedding. My parents and DH's family were so generous and we were so lucky to be spoilt and I felt a weird sense of guilt at the tine. Now I'm back to normal, slightly mundane life I'd do anything to go back to...as cheesy as if sounds...being a princess for a day. Embrace it!

I totally get it, I'm having the wedding I want but do cringe at how much we are spending and worry that people will judge us for not spending the money on more 'sensible' things. But we are doing it with no help and no debt so it's our money to spend, even though it could pay off some of the mortgage etc....

I felt like this about my engagement ring! I'm not used to having all this money spent on me. It's weird.
