What do you think of this dress?

Could I please have your opinions on this dress?

It does need alterations at the moment as the top is too big and needs fitting around the boobs. It’s also too long and I intend to lose some weight before the wedding.

I’m going for a relaxed look as it’s a beach wedding and I prefer this sort of style but I can’t decide if I should go for it or not. I loved it in the shop, it was soo comfortable and light and the beading was lovely with the right amount of sparkle. It may just be that the photo hasn’t captured it right or it may just be that I haven’t found ‘the one’.

It's not what I first imagine for a beach wedding but it is absolutely gorgeous and, most importantly, you love it!

Luckingfovely · 05/11/2019 22:50

It's lovely - trust your own judgement on how you feel in it.

I think it's really lovely, but for me it's more castle than beach.

Ginfordinner · 05/11/2019 22:52

It is a lovely dress, but looks far too formal for a relaxed beach wedding.

BrokenWing · 05/11/2019 23:02

Sorry, not keen. The top and skirt dont seems to quite match well to me, but it might just be the photo. top appears darker and heavily embellished, skirt light and floaty. Also agree with pp not what I expected for a beach wedding.

Wedding07 · 05/11/2019 23:13

ok, thank you. It would be less puffy at the bottom once it was altered so it would sit at floor length and would be thinner and floatier.

I may have to keep looking, most of the styles online I’ve seen so far are very plain and I wanted something slightly more eye catching. I haven’t actually found any in person yet apart from this one.

I originally wanted just a floaty relaxed maxi type dress and I know figure hugging/column types are also popular for beach weddings but they don’t work with my lower body.

The style is making you look wider than you are. The bottom part looks cheap, I’m sure you can do much better OP. Sorry if that sounds harsh!

MrsEricBana · 05/11/2019 23:19

I do like it OP but I agree with pp who said top looks heavier than the floaty bottom so possibly unbalanced.

fallfallfall · 05/11/2019 23:32

dragging that around and over the sand will turn the bottom black in the blink of an eye. even with a drop cloth over the sand (the stuff is everywhere).
i'm not a fan for this reason plus a few more.

I’m not keen to be honest. I think this shape would really flatter your figure (Obviously not this exact dress, although I do quite like it). The dress you posted cuts too high at the waist.

Ok back to the drawing board Grin

Any suggestions of dresses or types of dresses are most welcome. I have found plenty I don't like but nothing really apart from this dress I like so far. I just want something that makes me look and feel amazing, is comfortable and floaty with spaghetti straps, floor length and that hides my bottom and hips. Not asking for much I know.

@Newbiemumsy66 I like dresses like that but I have a large high weird bottom that sticks out at an angle due to spine problems and I look awful in a lot of clothes as it makes it really obvious.

Avoid spaghetti straps, in my personal opinion not many people can pull them off. Just go strapless if you don’t want thick straps they literally serve no purpose and unless they are on the right style dress (eg slinky satin number) they have a tendency to make dresses look a bit cheap in my opinion, sorry.

The best advice I received when dress hunting was try as many different styles as possible. It will surprise you what you like as the image you have in your head can be very different to what you actually look and feel great in! Smile

any of the Rembo Styling gowns would look lovely on a beach
this one would look nice on any figure, but they have several to choose from

I agree with PP that you want something more like the ASOS dress if you want a beachy vibe. But also I think if you put on a dress you love, unless it’s incredibly formal, it will work wherever you are because it’s the dress that you love.
