Defrosting wedding cake advice?

Hello, I've pre baked the cakes - two 10 inch round cakes (around 3 inches thick) that need defrosting, leveling, torting, decorating etc. The wedding is on Saturday and the plan is to sort them out tomorrow late afternoon after work. Should I take them out of the freezer tomorrow morning before work (7ish) or tomorrow afternoon (around 3 pm)? I want to start leveling etc once DP gets home around 5ish.

Also they're currently wrapped in 2 layers of cling film and a layer of foil. Do I defrost them in the wrapping?

Thanks!

Give them at least 24 hours to defrost whether you remove wrapping or not will depend upon n whether they are sponge, what type of sponge or fruit. Though I am guessing not fruit as you would just feed rather than freeze.
Drizzle Madeira defrost in packaging. Regular sponge remove wrapping and wrap
In tea towel.

Agreed you want them fully defrosted and at room temp throughout before you start. As above, 24 hours should do it.
