Readings at civil ceremony

If I chose for some readings at the ceremony, would the registrar read these? Or would we have to choose someone to?

We had 3 different readings at ours, two poems and an extract from a book. We had friends and family read them.

My husband read one to me (To my Bride by Steven Reiser). I wanted to read one too but he wanted a short ceremony as he was so nervous.

They can if you want them to, or you can ask one of your guests to read.
