Where did you put wedding certificate?

Getting married in about 5 weeks and its suddenly occurred to me that I have no idea where we're going to keep the wedding certificate after the church ceremony!

I just assumed it would be posted to us after the event, but apparently you're expected to take it with you Blush

I've seen that some people buy scroll-type holders or bring along cardboard backed envelopes to keep them safe but who would look after this for the rest of the day? We're doing a DIY village hall wedding so no staff to look after it and no nearby hotel room to leave it in Sad

Someone’s car?? We just left in in parents car

My husband just put it in his pocket. At my SILs wedding it was put back into the hotel room.

I don't think we had anything to take away with us Confused. We signed the register and then - not sure what to be honest.

Certainly the copies I have now are printed (although I ordered a bunch to send to banks etc as I was changing my name).

This is Scotland though so may be different if you're in England.

That's a good point! I think someone (mum or one of the groomsmen maybe? must have taken it for us and put it somewhere safe at our reception. Maybe with the cards or somewhere? We also had a reception at a village hall and I honestly cannot remember at all! And it was only 4 years ago.

Actually, now that I come to think of it, I think maybe dh was given something that he maybe had to send back to the registrar? If so, it got stuck in his sporran and he obviously did send it back as we are registered as married!

I'm thinking of putting it in someone's car - I just can't believe it gets entrusted with a bunch of people about to get very drunk haha

Also, does anyone know how you order copies when you're getting married in a church? I've heard it's cheaper to do this at the time rather than after the day, but can only find examples of how do sort it at a registry office online

I am suddenly feeling very unprepared!
