Buying a wedding dress on amazon?

Hello, I am getting married next April and looking for a tea length dress. I keep coming back to a beautiful one I saw on Amazon, but it looks like it may be from a dodgy company. The dress I like has only one review and it's positive, but some of the reviews on their other items are negative and say the dress they recieved was nothing like the photo. It's a really reasonable price but I still couldn't afford to lose my money if it turns out to be no good and tricky to return.

Any one had success buying on amazon, or even better from the same seller?

Find a similar one by the same designer and get a seamstress to tweak it eg add sleeves....It may well cost less than you think. Also don’t be afraid of cheeky offers on eBay, wedding dresses don’t sell brilliantly so you should be able to get a bargain

I'd be a bit wary of ordering from this company . My daughter and I have just come back from an appointment with a seamstress in a bridal shop and saw the most monstrous thing hanging on a rail in her workroom . A bride had left it with her to illustrate the danger of ordering from China . She thought she'd ordered a wispy fairy type skirt - about knee length - with an attached crystal encrusted bustier top which looked fabulous in the illustrations . Despite sending her correct measurements she received what looked like a pile of shredded tulle rags with a floppy bra top sewn on and a few pearls sewn on it . The whole thing looked like a pelmet . She paid £150 for this excrescence and the cost and hassle of returning to China was so prohibitive she decided to forget it and pick up a secondhand gown as my daughter had done and have it altered at the shop . Marketplace is choc a block with second hand dresses in all price ranges - some are even brand new like my daughters as the original bride changed her mind . Lastly look for a Bridal salon who advertises that the seamstress is City and Guild trained . Ours advertised alteration services even though the items don't come from her shop . She was so experienced - and said the cost of alteration would be no more than £70 . By comparison the shop where our daughter had tried on a dress in her size said that it would cost us £200 for more alterations - that was the standard cost . A good seamstress with a salon will make bridesmaids dresses at half preorder prices compared to a frock company too . Keep looking and you'll find the perfectly one x

Don't do it, my cousin has her own bridal shop and she has to get replacement dresses quickly for lots of brides who've bought dresses from China.

When they arrive they're hideous and look nothing like the dress they chose.

I can't imagine why a bridal shop owner would want to disincentivise people from ordering from abroad or online...

I ordered online from JJs House, as did my friend. I've got another dress for a friend's wedding online, as was my bridesmaid dress for my sister's wedding.
