Enough food?

We are aiming for a relaxed, informal wedding without a sit down meal.

Timings would be (roughly) -

Ceremony at 4.30
Followed by drinks reception and canapés while the photos are being taken. Magician during this time.

Hog Roast served between 7-9 with rolls, new potatoes, pickles and salad. Chicken goujons and chips for the children plus a vegetarian option if needed.

DJ starts at 7.30

Best mans speech, first dance and cake cutting at some point (possibly 8.30-9) and then will serve the cake plus dessert canapés.

Party finishes at 12.

Do you think this will be enough food?

Sounds fine as long as post ceremony canapés are generous! At that time people will have had a proper lunch with a late ceremony so dinner between 7 and 9 would be completely normal. Sounds like a lovely wedding have a fabulous day!

Can you bring the hog roast earlier to 6 to 8?

Do you have many children coming?

Sounds perfect to me

I'd need a bit more with my hog roast I think.

It sounds lovely though congratulations!

@hormonesorDHbeingadick

Possibly. Ceremony will finish around 5, so would only leave an hour for the drinks reception, canapés and photos - do you think that would be enough time? We do want to avoid too much waiting around though.

There will be around 12 children aged between 2 and 12.

Yes but I’d put hot roast on the invitation so people know. We had a 5pm ceremony and 7.30 dinner and didn’t feel the need to have canapés as everyone would have had lunch and time for an afternoon snack if they needed it

Beelee · 30/07/2019 18:25

Hi User, is there a reason for that? I’ve not known the meal to be put on the invitation before

@user1493413286 I wouldn’t see the need to put the meal on the invites a hog roast would be as substantial as a meal so it’s not as though it’s just nibbles and cheese or something that would mean they might go hungry!

Beelee and Napqueen1234 I think you’re probably right; I’m slightly haunted by a wedding i went to which was a hog roast consisting of one roll each and nothing else and spent the night starving so I’m probably projecting from that experience.

Sounds wonderful OP. My best friend had a hog roast at her wedding and it was AMAZING.

Beelee · 01/08/2019 11:55

That’s good, did you find it was enough food @user1473878824?
