So I have 6 little flower girls and have been given to the price of £ 20 a flower crown. I bought some wire, tape today and £1.50 bunch of gysophillia . This was what made, took about 20 mins and is now in the fridge.

What do we think? Does it look ok? I haven't seen any I'm the flesh .

Just as good as the florist made one my DD had! Well done

Knittedfairies · 25/07/2019 16:26

They look very similar to these; very pretty!

ToastyFingers · 25/07/2019 16:26

Looks beautiful.
I made the bouquets and buttonholes for my sister's wedding and as long as you're not too ambitious, it's pretty easy to knock up something simple and elegant.

Thanks guys! As they are all under 4 I am loathed to spend money (we don't really have ) on something that might only be worn for the isle and photos. But I love the look, so I am trying to find a way round it. DHtobe and DS didn't have a clue what I was talking about. Let's see if it lasts 24 hours on the fridge!

@toastyfingers don't think I am brave enough for a bouquet, I might just go without.

Op they’re lovely

If you can do those, you can definitely do a bouquet.

melissasummerfield · 25/07/2019 16:30

HeadintheiClouds · 25/07/2019 16:31

Yes, gorgeous. Really fresh and pretty.

ToastyFingers · 25/07/2019 16:32

@benfoldsfive we just got some pink and white roses and some roughage type stuff from the local flower market and arranged them and held them with wire, and then covered the wire with some ribbon.
I don't think I have a picture, as I've changed my phone since but I'll have a look.

GingerRogers84 · 25/07/2019 17:37

I made my own and they all looked lovely! Yours look even better than mine! Smile

TwoNoisyBoys · 28/07/2019 16:19

Absolutely beautiful 😊 spray them with a water spritzer and they’ll last longer.

funmummy48 · 28/07/2019 16:29

Looks fab! Well done 👍

moreismore · 28/07/2019 16:32

If they don’t last as well as you’d like try with wax flower. They look fab!

OP, I'm not a florist, but I've DIYed a few weddings and won prizes for flower arranging (slight stealth boast, but mainly stating so that you know I have relevant experience!).

The flower crowns you made look great! Smile Gypsophila lasts well out of water, so you'd be able to make the crowns the day before the wedding and not worry about them.

Top tip: make sure to condition (cut the ends off the stems, remove excess foliage and leave in water with flower food) for at least 12 hours/overnight before using the gysophila, in order to help it last longer without water. Then spritz with water and keep in a cool place.

You mentioned a bouquet... what sort of look would you go for if you had one? A simple bouquet of gypsophila (to tie in with the flower girls) would be very easy to make. I reckon you have nothing to lose by trying! You can find useful 'how to' bouquet tutorial videos on YouTube.
