Would this be an okay hot buffet?

We're looking around for reception venues and there's a lovely pub near the church where we are having our ceremony. There's about 20 of us and the pub has a small function room type area we can use. They do a hot buffet option but they only have two options - both of which are meat in sauce. They've said they can accommodate vegetarian and we have two attending. Do you think this would be okay or should be try to find somewhere else? We absolutely love the venue itself, location and the actual venue but we're unsure on the food aspect.

If there are seats and tables to eat at then meat in sauce would be ok imo.

Bit vague, can you expand on meat in a sauce? Will there be tables and chairs for everyone to sit down?

What type of meat in sauce? Both spicy? What will it be served with? How are they going to accommodate the veggies?

Sorry for the vagueness. There will be plenty of table and chairs for people. It's chicken in mushroom and white wine sauce and I think the other is beef in some sort of gravy (I'm not at home and can't remember exactly). It's served with potatoes and veggies. I'm not sure how they'll accommodate the veggies, at this stage all they've said is they'd find a suitable alternative dish.

It doesn't sound great tbh

zonkin · 05/06/2019 15:56

Hmmm, I don't think it sounds that tasty.

Sounds a bit canteen like.

Atalune · 05/06/2019 16:04

Sounds grim.

CottonSock · 05/06/2019 16:05

At least meat in sauce stays hot.

KneelJustKneel · 05/06/2019 16:08

If theres only 30 of you and you love the venue - can you change to a cold buffet/ bring outside caterers in? Have a fish and chip van even....

Eliza9919 · 05/06/2019 16:08

I thought it would be curry or something, I kinda agree with the above, it doesn't sound the most appetising.

I think it depends on what you’re paying for it and how nice it is. I’d ask if you can go and try it.
