Is there anything out there that offers a complete service /assistance in changing your surname after marriage? I got married on Saturday and the thought of how many people or organisations I'll need to inform is pretty daunting.

Hi. There's a website called
nameswitch.co.uk and you can do it all on there.

Thank you. Looks useful. Have you used the service?

Hi No I haven't yet, I get married next year so haven't needed to. Have seen it recommended somewhere else.

Is it really that many? I sent off for new passport and driving licence. Popped into bank one day. Told HR and sent them scan of marriage certificate.

Everything else, bills etc just as they arose. So next time we moved we set up accounts in new name. You don't have to change everything right away.

It's not that bad if you do it as each thing comes up. You can ask for extra copies of your marriage certificate if you want to write off to a few in one go but I think it costs extra.

I didn't find it that bad, as the PP said you can do each thing as they arise. I got 3 copies of the wedding certificate so I could do passport and driving license at the same time.

You really don't need any website or external system. Just get multiple copies of your wedding certificate and do each name change as you get to it. It doesn't have to all be done in one day! The big ones are your bank account, passport and driving license. The rest just fall into place as and when.

Do check about getting numerous copies. I was annoyed to find, after the wedding, that our council charge £5 a copy if you ask on the day (!), but £10 a copy therafter. Clearly knowing no one will ask on the day.

It is useful to have a few copies, I wouldn't want to send the original off.
