Title for bride who doesn’t want to be a bride

Me and my partner are getting married, both female. We are ordering personalised gowns and slippers for the morning.

The problem we are having is while I am having bride on mine my partner does not want to be a bride. She’s not very feminine and doesn’t feel like bride applies to her. Likewise she doesn’t want groom as she’s obviously not male and doesn’t feel this applies either.

Can anyone think of any other title that might work? I suggested not putting a title and just having her name but she doesn’t want that either.

Spouse? tricky one.

if you want these as a pair, having the same thing on both would make sense regardless of what it is

Wife? That's the object of it all, after all.

Does she really want the gown, or the personalisatin?

Could you both have Mrs and Mrs ( if you're becoming Mrs)
Or your names /new names if you're changing
Or 'the happy couple'
Or the date
Or a quote

The gown personalised sounds REALLY bridal though. You may need to compromise.

How about 'Getting Married!'?

I’d probably go with the date of the wedding or something (a tad twee) like “forever”

Any reason why hers could not be plain?

Or I quite like simply married.

DH had a female attendant and that's what we called her - he had best man, groomsman and groomswoman. I don't think it would work here.

Oh I never thought of it that way. Its not a term I've ever heard used in the UK.

All of the synonyms for bride are either twee, (little woman, helpmate(?!)), or slightly demeaning (better half, trouble and strife, old lady).

So if it was me, I'd be left with possibly 3 options:

1. Fiancée
2. Wife-to-be
3. Bride

1 is a bit of an affectation unless you both use it.
2 is clumsy and awkward.
3 is simple and means what it says.

Maybe she should reclaim the word Bride from the perception of big dresses and giggly girlyness and just proudly declare that she is one, because its the most simply descriptive unfussy plain English word to describe her.

Yes she wants the personalised gown, she’s also having her dad walk her down the aisle, having hair and make up artist etc. She very much wants the bridal experience she just doesn’t want to be labelled a bride which I can’t say I understand but of course it’s her choice so looking into alternatives for her.

I may have both our gowns with Mrs Surname that would work well.

How about "newly-wed" on both. Or honeymooner, which I personally like less. Or marriage partner.

Will your share a surname? Whose will you go with?

I like the 'mrs surname' idea - still weddingy but not just the first name.

I also like the idea of incorporating the date somehow e.g. 'Forever 3.7.19'
