Timings of DJ/Singer

So we have already booked our DJ - one that was recommended by the venue, and he will be playing 7pm-12am.

After a bit more looking around we've also found a swing/crooner singer we absolutely want to sing as well, he has said he can sing our first dance if required.

My question is... what's the best in terms of timings? The singer has suggested 8:30-10pm but is this too randomly in the middle?

I would say you prob need to discuss with the DJ. He may not want his set broken into two and would rather the singer went before or after. Also there's the logistics of them both setting up and packing away, you don't want them getting in each others way (assuming they'd both need to work in the same area) so again one after the other may work better. I would think the singer would work best first and the DJ finish off the night.
