Hi, I've been chatting to my friend about her wedding and she's wondering what to do about social media photos. Is it a good idea to set up a shared Facebook album to try and keep them all together? This can be set so only contributors see it or so all the contributors friends can see it so she's not sure what's best. Or is this a rubbish idea?!

Or maybe an Instagram hashtag?

If you are getting married soon what are you doing?

I've only been to weddings where I've sent the couple any nice photos I have by email but my friend doesn't think people will go through the effort to do this.

When I got married this wasn't a problem Confused. The last wedding we attended the bride and groom included their hashtag on all wedding stationery (invitations, order of service, table plan and menus). I get the idea but found it a little ott.

Yeah not sure about the hashtag as not sure how private that would be, and other people might use the same one.

When we got married I found an app where everyone could upload their pictures. It was really nice because we had a photo competition thing during the day and everyone uploaded their pictures to the app meaning I got some lovely photos alongside the professional ones. Afterwards I uploaded them to social media all in one folder.

We didn’t use a professional photographer. We ended up with some great semi posed photos from photograph keen friends and a load of random ones.
We got everyone to send them to us or Dropbox. Loads ended up on various Facebook pages too. It would have been better to announce a special page just to ease organisation.
We made our own photo books ( there were loads of offers at a Christmas) and others as Christmas gifts for family members,
