How long did it take to get your wedding photos back?

We got married in November and we’re still waiting for our photographer to send through the final edit.

Is this a normal timescale or is he taking a long time?

I can understand that having Christmas in the middle and other weddings to deal with he’s probably busy but he’s been paid now

We’ve not got married yet, that said I think yours is absolutely taking longer than I’d be happy with. I‘d expect around 6-8 weeks (our photographer has advised 6 weeks is his usual turnaround time), maybe up to a maximum of 3 months depending on time of year and how popular your photographer is. Have you asked for an update at all or had any photos back yet?

Ours said 8 weeks in the contract - it took them 12 though which annoyed me as we paid for it all up front.

Anything in your contract about it?

We’ve had a ‘sneak peak’ which are lovely.
And we have chased a few times since for the rest.

The reasons for the delay are usually that he’s been busy.

I'm a wedding photographer and was advised when starting out to always say six weeks for editing but aim for five. I am usually faster as I love the editing process and can't wait to get stuck into it, but I'm not as busy as some (I'm only just starting out really).

I've never heard of photos taking longer than 3 months, though and I've been working in the industry for almost 10 years.

We had an amazing photographer, we had our photos in less than a week. They were all edited and put on his website in a secure password protected folder.

That is quite a long time. My dh is a wedding photographer and his usual turn around is 6-10 weeks which he states in his contract.

Similarly to Theonewiththecat we also had ours back a week later fully edited (but we had a winter wedding so possibly wasn't as busy a time of year for them?) I definitely wouldn't be happy with waiting 4 months as you have with no good reason especially given the amount these people charge!! Can you contact them to ask for a date?

We were told 6 weeks but got them back around 4 weeks.

It took about 6 months maybe more for hours, but that was our fault . We didn't get around to choosing the actual photos to be printed for months. The actual turn around from us picking photos to the completed album was about 8weeks.

DH has tried contacting the photographer now 3 times since February with no response

All seems a little weird now

That is really worrying and so unprofessional!
