Hi All.

I wonder if anyone could give any suggestions for gifts for the following people at an intimate 20 guest wedding:

Mother of bride / groom
Father of bride / groom
Best man
Bridesmaid

General favours for the other guests

Thanks!

Depends on what they like? Flowers are tradition for mother’s. Honestly I wouldn’t bother with favours.

Hiya

For bridesmaids we did earrings for each of them.

Best man & Groomsmen got a pocket watch that was engraved but your fiancé might have an idea for them.

MoB & MoG were flowers

Favours we did a box of sweeties with a scratch card, and a little packet of seeds with our initials on the outside. You can get loads of these things on eBay.

I don't know if this would interest you but our local hospice do wedding favours, in fact I think most hospices do Smile

Mums - flowers usually traditional or maybe a photo frame (for your wedding pic!) or vase
Dad's - cufflinks, tie pin, depends really on their likes and dislikes
Best man - cufflinks
Bridesmaid - jewellery
General favours - anything goes ... wildflower seeds, one friend had handmade shortbread, miniature bottles of gin/whiskey, lottery ticket??!

Depends on the style of your wedding, what you like etc

@JiltedJohnsJulie oh really?! That's lovely. Thank you

Thank you everyone.

Really struggling with bridesmaid as she's not the "girliest" and doesn't really wear jewellery or that would absolutely have been the choice.

I've got everyone a place card with a thank you message on and some DIY little boxes which have our initials and the date. I was going to put some lindor Choc in but didn't know if this would be enough

Does your bridesmaid drink? One of my fave Christmas presents was an engraved gin glass!

pepguardi · 15/03/2019 20:23

I like that idea @Jakadaal !!

Confetti had lovely holdall weekend bags that you could get initials on ( around £25 each). They were perfect for my wedding as it was abroad. However they didn’t have the colour I wanted so I ended up buying a Michael Kor gift sets of earring and bracket that were £30 from the outlet store.
All the bridesmaids and my mother got hangers with the date and names on ( eBay) and the obligatory dressing gown.
Best man got a new price if equipment for his work that he had been fussing over.
Not sure we bothered with other gifts.

I've gone a bit OTT ...
Bridesmaids: Pyjamas and flip flops for the morning, flat shoes for the evening, earrings, glass and small prosecco with metal straw, sweets, and perfume (got a pack of 4 mini marc jacobs!).
Bestman/Groomsmen: Bottle of booze and Ted Baker hip flask, custom pop vinyl (they're both really into them), cufflinks and tie clips and socks
Mum and MIL: dressing gown for the morning (might get slippers also), glass and some jewellery that I'll choose when I know what they're wearing.
My dad: embroidered hankerchief with soppy message and pocket watch
FIL: compass

Everyone has the personalised hangers

Our adult bridesmaids had a necklace with a design based on the flower we had as our main flower in our bouquets (a protea, as husband is south african) and an engraved champagne glass. I also did them a wedding day survival kit with gel shoe pads, paracetamol, plasters, moisturiser, lip balm, hair grips, mini hair spray, hankies etc.

The flower girls got a necklace with a rose and their initial (roses made up the rest of our flower arrangements). The boys got Lego, and mum had a big bunch of flowers and a silver necklace, dad had an engraved standard (family tradition).

We're not planning on doing favours, as most weddings I've been to (4 in the past year and another 3 to go before my own) the favours get left on the tables. One less thing to worry about / spend money on!

I don't think we'll be giving out the presents during speeches, as it adds so much time and guests get fidgety / bored.

My bridesmaids aren't really the jewelry type either, so I'm planning to get them locally made gin or something similar.

Cravingcake · 23/03/2019 18:06

We gave our Best Man & ushers a ‘day out for the guys’ experience (they are all our good friends). They haven’t actually done it yet but they will all go away for a night out, or a day of go-karting or similar.

I went to one wedding where the B& G gave their mums/parents a hamper of local posh food. They also gave perfume to the bridesmaids which was nice (if you know them well enough).

I can’t actually remember what I gave my bridesmaids Blush

Cravingcake · 23/03/2019 18:09

I did get my DH a pair of boxers with Property of the new Mrs Cake & our wedding date printed on them. And a pair of socks that said In Case You Get Cold Feet.

I arranged for the venue where he was staying to leave a little gift bag with this in his room for him the night before. It made him smile & was very us.

pepguardi · 23/03/2019 20:05

@Cravingcake I love those ideas! The perfume in particular
