Rainbow themed - what colour for bridesmaids?

We are having a (hopefully single and classy) rainbow themed wedding, embracing it being a gay wedding and going wild. We’ve got subtle rainbow coloured details but the part I’m struggling with is what colour do I put the bridesmaids in?

I would have liked white with a different coloured sash / shoes each in the rainbow colours but I would need 6 then and I’m only planning on 3 bridesmaids.

@JingsMahBucket - I thought they ditched indigo in favour of cyan, so there's still seven?

Still, it's a wedding based on the Gay Pride flag rather than a technically correct refracted visible spectrum so it's a bit of a moot point 😁.

Looking at that photo OP... would you be brave enough to put your bridesmaids in odd shoes? So one with one red and one orange shoe, one with one yellow and one green, and the other with one blue and one purple?

I like your idea of the white dresses and matching but different colour flower. Looks more classy than mixed coloured dresses.

@greentulips that’s what I’m aiming for classy but fun. Although some will disagree. My mum thinks it’s very tacky, can’t please everyone!

I’m wearing white, planning a full length dress and the bridesmaids in a shorter one. My soon to be wife will be in a suit, probably pale grey.

Haven’t read any further yet so may have been mentioned but can’t each of the three bridesmaids have two colours each fit the flowers?

Have you looked properly at bridesmaid dresses yet? Ie considered what shape / style your three friends would suit? Because I love the subtle sashes mentioned upthread, but not all styles would suit them

@CatchingBabies just wanted to pop in and say I love your theme! I'm straight but we're having a pastel rainbow theme this year, as a large majority of my family and friends are gay and it's our way of doing our own little shout out to what love really means. 🌈🌈🌈 I've got 5 Bridesmaids and these are the dresses they've got. Maybe you could do all in one colour dress but with rainbow flowers and shoes? There's lots of great stuff on Pinterest if you've not had a look already.
