Can anyone help me find a wedding dress?

I am a petite (5ft) size 8-10. I love dresses with lace, and definitely want to have my shoulders covered and a high neckline.

My dream dress is the Jenny packham mimosa (pictures) but it's £1800 second hand 😩.

My budget is more like £500.

I have trawled the internet for weeks, but am really struggling.
I have been to two bridal shops, but felt awful in everything I tried as all the samples drowned me!

Can anyone help me find something lovely? I'm totally happy to buy second hand, and totally happy to go high street!

Thanks in advance.

Could you have it made by a local seamstress or a handy family member? It's not easy to find anything in the £500 price range because the cost of fabric for bridal gowns can often cost more than that. I'm not trying to make you feel bad by the way, it's a sad reality for those on a tight budget :( Can you up the budget and cut back elsewhere?

I've pm'd you opalescent

I bought the Ronald Joyce Hayden for £150, supposed to be £1800 but found a sample sale - it was 2 sizes too big and paid another £150 to a seamstress to alter it!

anniehm · 28/02/2019 16:51

Have you tried oxfam, they sell them in larger branches. Alternatively there's factory outlets (we went to one near burton) and pay a seamstress to alter the length

Or here for instance?

Have you tried preloved and still white? I got my Jenny Packham Vivienne from preloved for £500. It was a sample and the shop was closing down.

Lew1993 · 28/02/2019 16:53

Have you had a look at wed2b.co.uk?
They have some beautiful lace dresses on there, it's definitely where I'll be going. They have lots of stores throughout the UK, most dresses are £599.

Lew1993 · 28/02/2019 16:55

Should have named a few of the dresses rather than you trawling the site, "Camilla" "Sophia" "Leah" are just a few I can remember off the top of my head

TinkleWinkle13 · 28/02/2019 16:58

Have you looked at Phase Eight? Quite a few in that sort of style when I was in store recently...

TinkleWinkle13 · 28/02/2019 17:00

Just had a look online and this one is not 100 miles away from yours. Lots in that 1920’s Pakham style

This is north of England - well worth a look and she will make bespoke alterations, and prices for new start at c.£300.
