What should an 8 year old boy wear to a wedding?

One of my closest and oldest friends is getting married this summer. I haven’t been too many weddings and D.C. haven’t been to any. I plan to put DD in a dress and pretty shoes which isn’t out the ordinary for her anyway. She’s very girly.

But what should I dress DS in? Not keen on paying out for a suit. It might be hot in the summer and I don’t think he would want to wear it. Would a shirt and smart chino type shorts do with some smart shoes be okay? Or trousers? (DS suits shorts more and I think they look smarter on him)! I’m thinking for shoes a smart pair of trainer/shoes he will be able to wear again rather than black shoes he won’t wear again Are converse suitable? If a brand new pair?

That sounds absolutely fine. Most boys I see at weddings are wearing school uniform trousers with a shirt and converse type trainers or school shoes.

I think it depends on how formal the wedding is. Shirt and smart shorts maybe even with a bow tie would look cute and smart enough. The shoes depend on the wedding. Converse with that outfit would have been fine at my wedding but something like a pair of kickers might be better.
Ask your friend is probably the best bet really.

Shorts and a short-sleeved shirt sounds ideal. Smart shoes look ridiculous on small boys, imho; I'd opt for some simple canvas plimsolls so he'll be comfortable but still look well turned out. Clean faces and neatly combed hair are anyway the easiest and most failsafe ways to make little boys look smart!!

Chinos/chino shorts, maybe a grandad collar shirt, white converse.

Last wedding we went to, ds wore a blue waistcoat and trousers, pale blue shirt and pale blue converse. He looked super smart, but casual enough to be appropriate later. I got the trousers from Asda, all the rest from ebay and cost less than £30. And I sold it all on later for just about the same.

If its a casual wedding, chino shorts would be fine, but if its a bigger do, then I'd go for trousers

Thank you. I tend to dress D.C. smartly anyway but was unsure what a boy should wear!

I’m not keen on DS wearing smart shoes either and would rather him wear something like converse or canvas shoes. He obviously has school shoes but he has small feet but black formal shoes always look bulky on him so would prefer light weight shoes!
