Small ceremony,6-8/people,how long will it take?

Hi all,

We're getting married in a private garden in New York next May,there will be between 6-8 people there including us. We'll have an officiator and a photographer. I'm hoping our kids will read a poem in the middle of the ceremony, but other than that, there's nothing else planned. We want it small and simple.

We can either rent the garden for an hour or an hour and a half (which costs more money obviously) Do you all think an hour would be enough for a civil ceremony and then for some pictures to be taken?

In my head the ceremony would take 30 mins max which would more then enough time for some pics in the garden with the guests. But having never been married before,I wasn't sure if this was a bit ambitious! We can't eat or drink in the garden so there won't be champagne,canapes..any of that.

What are everyone's thoughts?

I think an hours plenty, the ceremony won't take long at all.

I had a very small Wedding at our County Council offices, with only 9 guests (4 of whom were our dc). We were in there for about 45/1 hour minutes all in. That included the bit with the registrar before hand, the ceremony, photos (not pro though) & having a good chat with the registrar as she'd registered 3 of the 4 dc.
