Does the bride have to stand a certain side?

I was just thinking about this, the bride usually stands to the left during the ceremony but does it have to be that way? Could I stand the other side if I wanted to? We're having a non-religious ceremony.

I am sure you can st and I'm either side as long as your partner agrees.

Where are you having it?

If you do decide to stand on the right side you would alert guests or the ushers (if you have any) as bride on the left if tradition. And brides family and friends go left.

It's quite a nice one I think as your parterns heart is on the left!

Not sure what happens in weddings with two brides. Or two grooms.

Congratulations on your big day.

Think the tradition is so the bride stands ‘under’ the groom’s heart and his sword arm is free in case of a fight
