Which colour do we all prefer?

Taking matching flowers etc into consideration... mid September wedding

Mid September is still likely to be warm and summery. None of those colours say that to me i’m afraid. DSis hit married in September and her BMs wore cream and copper (but both were redheads).

LittleBoPeeeep · 24/11/2018 19:12

I'm really struggling to find a colour I like 😩.

I’d go for navy - timeless classic at anytime of year. Think the grey is a bit washed out. Congrats on getting married. September weddings are the best Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/11/2018 19:14

My wedding was September and I had purple and silver.
They are all nice but the grey is my favourite

LittleBoPeeeep · 24/11/2018 19:14

Thank you!

My initial "I want that colour and no other" was the burgundy but i was concerned it was too wintery.

Then I went to grey but thought it might be a bit boring and washed out.

Today I seen navy and LOVED it but again, didn't know if it was a bit dark for that time of year!

I got married mid September and had navy with different coloured accessories. They didn’t have flowers they had matching bags with knitted flowers in their chosen colour and their shoes matched the flowers on the bags. Was much nicer than it sounds

teachergirl2011 · 24/11/2018 19:21

I love the burgundy x

Blondiecub0109 · 24/11/2018 19:24

Hi they are all lovely! But flowers could make a huge difference - ie, September, vibrant sunflowers etc. The grey would work well if you are going bright elsewhere. I married first weekend in October and my bridesmaids wore grey ( with beading) and we had bright orange gerbara’s.

AHeartAPenny · 24/11/2018 19:28

I got married in September and had rich jewel tones. The image isn't from my wedding but it was those colours.

I had emerald green for my September wedding.

SenecaFalls · 24/11/2018 19:34

I like the grey, but I admit to being prejudiced. My bridesmaids wore a silvery grey in December but in a warm climate.

dreamyflower · 24/11/2018 19:41

Burgundy! It's a lovely autumnal colour. Perfect for Sept.

LittleBoPeeeep · 24/11/2018 19:43

I'm so sorry about what's about to be a probably STUPID question. But I thought the flowers/decor etc was supposed to all match the bridesmaid/grooms cravat etc.

I feel so clueless with all this!

If got married last September. I had gold and rose gold sequin dresses for my BMs, the groomsmen were in very dark grey suits with light pink ties- DH had ivory (tie, not suit!). We had cream and light pink roses with lots of greenery as our flowers.

My first instinct was "September = Autumn = burgundy" too, but actually the weather is usually quite nice that time of year, Indian-summery. Don't feel constrained by dark colours.

If you want some inspiration have a look and see what flowers are in season at that time of year. This will also save you £££ in flowers as your florist won't need to pay a premium for out of season stuff.

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/11/2018 20:12

They don't have to match. They can compliment each other. That's up to you

Blondiecub0109 · 24/11/2018 20:18

There’s no rules! But I see what you mean. Was at a wedding where bride wanted hot pink so pink bridesmaid dresses, hot pink roses in her bouquet and cravats all pink ( was tasteful). Was bridesmaid at a wedding where we have teal dresses and groomsmen has matching cravats, but the flowered were simple beautiful cream roses. My own wedding as I said we did beaded grey dresses ( my husband wanted a grey suit with black shirt as he was worried about sweating!) and seasonal
Flowers.

Grey looks lovely. I got married in eRly september and opted for grey/blush rose colour palette

WildFlower2018 · 24/11/2018 20:32

@LittleBoPeeeep I didn't have one colour for everything. I got married at the end of May.

Ties and pocket squares were a liberty fabric with several colours in. Suits were grey-blue. Bridesmaid wore purple (a purple dress with a grey-blue undertone, so it worked with the suits by chance, but I was open to any shade of purple really) and my flowers were a mixture of colours. Table flowers matched my bouquet.

Venue was decorated with lots of greenery & upstairs I did lots of pink purple and green on my table favours and decor.

HTH!

Burgundy would look lovely with orange and yellow flowers, very autumnal.

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/11/2018 20:47

Just have what colour you like best! We got married mid October and actually it was a very warm and sunny day. We had pretty much identical burgundy to the photo you posted.

Atalune · 24/11/2018 20:48

Really dislike burgundy.

Love the idea of greys or pinks or roses.

Jewel colours with lots of greenery might be Nice.

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 24/11/2018 20:48

The only thing we had that matched were the bridesmaids dresses being navy and I had a navy cardigan when I was outside.
There is no supposed about it you can have whatever you want. Was a gorgeous sunny day when we got married and still very warm. We had loads of colour everywhere. My bouquet was colourful, multi coloured polka dots on my cake, multi coloured table decorations. It looked lovely.
WildFlower love the latter on the tie. It’s fabulous.

Mummyshark2018 · 24/11/2018 20:51

I like them all. I had a dark red and I got married abroad in a hot country. Go with whichever colour you like and which suits your bm's. Grey can wash some people out as can navy, personally I wouldn't let month/ season dictate my colour scheme

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/11/2018 20:51

What skin tones and hair colour do your bridesmaids have?

Fatted · 24/11/2018 20:52

I got married in early September. It was still lovely and sunny. I wouldn't worry too much about the colours, have what YOU want! We had deep purple for the bridesmaids with silver accessories etc. Then the groom had silver and grey and the flowers were white and lilac. It doesn't all have to be 'matchey matchey', more colours that compliment each other.
