Hello everyone!!
Hoping someone on here will have recently got married in London and might be able to suggest a hall to have our wedding party!
Had a ridiculously expensive place lined up but just seems an impossible amount to save so now considering other options.
We are considering now to get married at the town hall and hire somewhere else for the after party.
Looking for a large stylish space that would fit about 150 people. Maybe there's someone out there who might know just what I'm looking for?

And in order not to drip feed, don't mind if it's a sit down meal or a buffet but somewhere that must accommodate kids till late.

Anywhere large and stylish in London charges appropriately I'm afraid. I've had this problem recently trying to find somewhere cheap but decent.

Dry hire of venues, even fairly scuzzy looking ones, are ridiculous.

Admittedly we were looking for a Saturday date. All the church halls etc we looked at just didn't seem 'naice' enough. Anywhere that has a bit of wow factor was £4K to hire before we'd even looked at caterers etc. The prices were coming out as the same as getting a package at a decent hotel/ venue

A fairly reasonable venue is The Trafalgar in Greenwich. They do packages, or you can dry hire and have your ceremony there if you like. They seem flexible. We were considering it but eventually went elsewhere purely based on location.

Good luck, it's hard!

I've been to a couple of weddings at Trinity Buoy Wharf which is a great space and right on the river.

This would have been our top choice, but we couldn't afford it

Where in London are you looking? It's a big place! We got married in Central London a long time ago, but some of the places we looked at that were on the cheaper side then were the Canal Museum, Friends House (no alcohol though) and the BMA, all near Euston, and the Lamb Tavern in Leadenhall.

Try The Depot N7 near Caledonian Road. It's an old bus depot but very beautiful in an industrial way and reasonably priced (minimum spend)

the Crypt in Ely Place by Holborn Viaduct. The food is sit down meal prepared by the Bleeding Heart. bleedingheart.co.uk/the-crypt/

My friend got married here. Lovely venue and reasonable although it was 5 years ago now

We got married at the ICA on the Mall, surprisingly reasonable with a stand up buffet rather than a sit down meal.

OK so this isn't necessarily the most classy or stylish venue as it is a Wetherspoons (though I have been there and it's one of the nicer ones, I think it's an old Bank) but at £3000 all in and a central London location (in Chancery Lane by Lincolns Inn) I doubt you will find cheaper www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/life-style/wetherspoons-wedding-package-all-inclusive-3000-pounds-pub-value-deal-venue-offer-a8202976.html%3famp

It’s a while since our wedding but we looked at and very nearly booked a restaurant in the city for exclusive use. Most of them don’t open at weekends as the square mile is dead (ditto the bars there) so they generally have a minimum spend rather than a hire cost. Lots of different options re price and style too.

We went to a Wedding Reception at Stationers Hall - it was fabulous!

Mary ward House Bloomsbury

I enquired about Trinity Bhoy Wharf. £5K plus VAT to hire before caterers, plus mandatory security guards, plus a mandatory clean up fee for the following day.
I politely declined! Lovely location and venue though.

The Lamb Tavern in Leadenhall is a very good shout. And the food is very good. They do different level packages depending on how much you want to splash out.

Sweary that reminds me we recently went to a wedding at Hawksmoor Guildhall, the marriage was at St Lawrence Jewry which is right next door. It was lovely.

Xiaoxiong · 20/11/2018 16:15

Oh another brilliant wedding we've been to, at Cecil Sharp House: www.cecilsharphouse.org/csh-venue-hire/weddings-and-parties

Quite a few of the Worshipful Companies hire their venue for weddings. Lots based in the City and many, eg. Goldsmiths Company, are beautiful.

flissfloss65 · 20/11/2018 16:40

Wow! Ignore Goldsmith Hall as it’s bonkers money. Some of the other livery halls may still be ok price wise.
