Wedding Decor Budget?

Hi all,

As previously posted, we are having a fairly simple wedding (winter) and I have decided to do away with flowers. I am not that keen and the cost is not worth it in my personal opinion. I have a brilliant creative friend who is going to decorate the venue with wintery bits and pieces. (It is all in one venue - a barn type place). There are 3 spaces - the reception / party room, the ceremony hall and the restaurant with 8 tables for a meal.

My friend has asked me what my budget is for the decorations and I'm not sure what to say. She has lots of lovely ideas involving fairy lights and Christmassy bits, and mistletoe, but I don't know where to set the budget. I don;'t want to go too high but want to be realistic. Her thoughts were 'how long is a piece of string' and she would prefer me to say a limit. Does anyone have any ideas at all?

Well, what's the first figure that springs to mind? I am Frugal with a capital F so my first thoughts are that the greenery can be got for free. Easy. Pinecones, fir branches etc and bare branches. Great.

Fairy lights...nice idea but they cost when you're decorating a barn. Too few and it's like decorating the moon with a tub of glitter..it won't even make a splash.

Too many and your budget will go bang.

So I'd avoid them completely and source candles and use jars (begged and borrowed)

Plenty of them if you're allowed. If you're not allowed them I would buy a load of battery operated candles...the fake ones...and put those in jars instead.

So far your budget is zilch bar the cost of the battery candles.

Keep it simple and elegant. The image of the table runner with fir branches and pine cones looks a bit bare but add jars with candles and it will be gorgeous.
