Brides! Sexy underwear or spanx??

I've got a dress I'm really pleased with and it's very figure hugging! If I was going to a party wearing this I'd definitely get some spanx! However I would like to wear some sexy undies as part of my wedding gift to new DH! Does anyone have any suggestions about how to navigate this conundrum?!! What did you wear under your wedding dress? Are there any ranges which are the best of both worlds - eg sexy and supportive?? Is that even possible?? Grin

Btw I'm a tall size 12, fairly slim, but always like to feel my tummy is being sucked in! ;-)

Comfortable is the word you are looking for! You're going to be wearing it all day, and I don't reckon that Spanx are going to be feeling good after 10 hours

Wear practical under your dress then get changed into sexy whn you retire to your honeymoon suite Wink

I went to every high end underwear shop- nothing was as comfy (and it looked lush) than primark thongs' they've got no elastic so are super super super comfy!

How easy is it to get your dress on and off? Can you do it without assistance?

You could always wear Spanx until after the photos, and then pop to wherever you've put your things for a "comfort break" and change into some different knickers for the dinner/evening.

Save the interesting stuff for the honeymoon.

Seriously supportive (ugly) underwear...
I think by the time dp sees it we'll be knackered. Also we're getting married in December so I'll be wearing long Johns lol.
Might get some nice things for the honeymoon.

I wore the biggest pants I could find.

Just before going back to our room I went to the loo, took the pants off and shoved them in my tiny bag.

He thought I’d been commando all day Grin

You will be the centre of attention all day so wear something that makes you look good in your dress. No-one is going to see your underwear all day, but if the sexy underwear isn't supportive enough or makes the dress look wrong it won't be worth it. I agree with OlennasWimple.

Wear what looks good with the dress, and then change when you go to your room. Have it easily accessible in the bathroom for example.

Personally though I'd concentrate on nice underwear for honeymoon, we were both exhausted after wedding as didn't go to room until 2am so bridal lingerie I'd bought was absolutely not worn I actually went to sleep i one of his t-shirts as I hadn't packed normal pjs. So our first time as a married couple was in the morning in his t-shirt. Which isn't what I had in mind.

Wow! Not one vote for sexy underwear! I am planning for some romance that night so might change into something at the hotel.

Also the wedding is not al all day event do only a few hours to cope.

I wore my comfortable granny pants as my "something old". Also fairly often on the actual wedding night people are tired and or drunk so the day after can be a better "wow" night. Slightly projecting here as ours was an all night reception and DH went to bed at 8 am Grin.

I'm having a costume change mid-evening.

Comfortable all day, sexy in the evening. Though I don't think my OH cares that much about the inbetween half-naked stage as much as what follows tbh...

My dress was a big ball gown.
I wore white lacy knickers from Ann summers, no bra and didn't need one. I was pregnant so had to be comfortable.
I changed into a very non bridal reception dress after all the formalities were done.
Then I changed again into nightwear before bed. That allowed me to wear something sexy that I knew my husband would like, without having to be uncomfy all day.

I wore massive granny pants. My dress was several layers of chiffon and every other style of knickers I tried showed right through.

Even though the wedding is only a few hours, don't under estimate how tired you are likely to be. You will have a lot to think about/do in the run to it and you may not sleep well.
I would strongly suggest not building your self up for a special night of passion that you are highly likely to be disappointed by. In a poll of my girlfriends ( 10 of us round the table) only one had sex on their wedding night and that was a rushed disappointing event that happened because they thought they should.
Honeymoon is the ideal time for sexy undies.

Change into the sexy underwear when you retire for the night. Good luck with achieving wedding night romance - all of my friends have joked about wasted “bride knickers” because they were too knackered/festively lubricated for it.
