Eloping next weekend.

We had a big wedding planned for next year and we’re over it. Over all the aggravation and hassle and over all the family dramas and trying to accommodate everyone’s wishes so we’ve cancelled everything and arranged to get married next weekend with just my children there.

I feel so guilty for not telling any of the extended family or friends (who were all looking forward to the wedding) but also ridiculously excited.

I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone but I couldn’t keep it myself, hence the name change and post on here.

1 week tomorrow and I’ll be married!!!

Hooray! Good for you! There is so much useless drama and family politics that can poison the simple happiness that you're supposed to have at a wedding. Lots of people would be much better off doing what you're doing.

Consider having a bit of a party in a few months for family and close friends. That should sooth over any hurt feelings.

Congratulations. We only had 26 at our wedding (including us), and even then we had 6 people neither of us wanted and an unwanted wedding cake. No idea why people are so pushy about other people's weddings. Hope you have a great day.

There’s going to be 5 of us, plus the celebrant and it’ll all be over in 15 minutes :) A $25,000 has come down to less than $600 including the meal afterwards.

Not sure how we’re going to tell our parents afterwards, I’m an expat so I’ll have to tell my parents over the phone but we have to tell DPs parents face to face.

DPs mum is a pain and we know she’ll sulk but I figure she’ll just have to get over it.

Sooooooo excited today - especially as I tried my posh frock on and it fits yay!!

The nicest wedding I have ever been at had only 7 people at it. The bride and groom, the minister, myself as MOH and the best man, my DM and my 1 year old DD. It was held in church, with no music, and was incredibly meaningful and moving. There was a photographer, but he only took a couple of photos and everything else was just the photos we took. It was lovely.

It’s tomorrow!!! In less than 24hrs we’ll be married and preparing for the fallout when we tell DPs family.
